You can have your rankings while we will have our victory. Besides after this win we jumped up to 6. If we continue like this we will eventually reach the top.

Our major set back was due to Azhar Ali's captaincy. Ever since Sarfraz became captain we have had a decent record.

Good for you but same was said after Younis Khan won the WT20...hope for pak sake things work out...was beginning to feel sad for them

as they had hit minnow territory in the last 2 years.

How confident are you there won't be a grouping, fixing, banning, drug abuse, chucking etc etc etc. Feel free to use past data and not just assumptions :giggle:

I hope Pak team uses this CT win as a springboard to trigger further changes that are needed within.   I hope it doesn't revert to business as usual, as it so easily can with the PCB.

Sure as rivals, its a bit of fun watching Pak team struggle.  But I don't want to see teams like Windies and Pakistan become weak and crappy in perpetuity.   Both teams are in danger of that due to structural issues.   Windies have won ICC events too, but were unable to stem the decline - CT in 2004, World T20 a couple of times.

Pak overperformed just like Leicester winning the PL. Overall the team isnt good enough to be a consistent top 2 or 3 side like India has been in the last decade.

Azhar Hafeez Malik will stay in your team and carry on dragging Pak down. And Pak will consistently struggle to make 300+ scores.

Not to mention likes of Amir Junaid generally have been average last few years . Paks bowling stepped up in thia tournie but since WC 2015 Pak bowling has given more runs away per wicket than anyone bar Zimbabwe.

6 months from now Pak will be 6th 7th 8th.

Pak still has incompetent structure n that will hinder them from becoming truly top side.

I think this win was a huge morale booster. It gave the team the confindence to continue playing this brand of cricket. Our cricket has been in a turmoil since we adapted the Misbah style of batting. That however will change now.

I see us going up the rankings in the next 6 months. Although what you say is not far from the truth. Guys like Hafeez, and Azhar are defintly dragging us down. I think Malik gots another two years left in him. The positive is that we got youngsters coming through. Hopefully we replace these two in time of the big tourney.

its another false dawn IMO. Once Pak go back away from the atmosphere of England n to the boring grind of UAE series at home then we will see whether Pak is changed team or same old.

Pak have atrocious ODI record there.

i do agree sarfraz is better than misbah who was average odi captain.

But Pak wont reach top 3 for aformentioned factors.

I expect us to be back to our winning ways against Pakistan from the next match in an ICC tournament.  Because our team has generally been very strong in the last few years, including this team    :  )

But for that first there should be a very strong desire in each every team member to see that pak is defeated . A kind of mission to avenge this defeat . Sadly i did thought something was missing is some senior members in this team. Include some deserving young guys who have played for year or more and kick out all over the hill players .

Very specific strategy  and thorough  preparation in areas which are causing us problems vs PAK.

  1. Nullify Amir's opening spell.

  2.  Attack their spinners intelligently ensuring minimum 8 rpo of them .

 3.   Target 210+  between 10 - 40 overs .

  4.   Go with fast bowlers  and may be 1 spinner . No easy runs against spinners .

I do not think  its that difficult to beat them unless their batting improves quite a lot.

At the moment -  they are on a high with the tag that they are a great bowling side .

This  myth should be broken with a determined objective to destroy their confidence by making 300+ runs against them always.

and break their confidence .  May not happen in one match but that should be the approach . May be try to do in 4-5 matches .

That may require batting out some of the initial overs of  Amir , Hassan  and attack others

That Younis Khan victory was a twenty20 win. We are actually not bad in twenty20s. Nor were we in Tests. Its just recently we have taken a dip in Test cricket. Our ODI game has been terrible for the last 6 to 7 years. Thats mostly due to our Misbah way of batting.

I don't think we will have any grouping problems. If there is one thing I can appreciate Misbah's era for is that he made the team work hard. Making them gel together as a team and supportive of one another. This team on paper looks like ****. On the field it looks like a family. Which is what matters in the long run.

Now as for the rest of the other stuff. I can't promise you that. Because you never know what happens in the future. All I know is if someone really does any sort of corruption they don't deserve to be in the team. We got plenty of other talent waiting in the wings, so we will find there replacements.

Unless they have talent.you forgot to add that caveat

In the end this defeat is a start for more defeats. :)

You can think that. The reality is India is far superior

As for original Post, I think this thread is in very bad taste. Equating a stupid Cricket Match with SOmeone like Jadhav shows the low level thinking of some of us.

The three youngsters who performed for Pakistan are Shadab, Fakhar and hasan. Of these only see Hasan having a bright future. Shadab is so young. Would not be proper to predict. Fakhar wouldn't survive for long. Just my opinion. You need to get rid of Hafeez, Azhar and malik from the team. Surely Sarfaraz is much more animated captain than others. But this might as well be false dawn.

No my friend No. Hell No.  You can win odd games but India will still beat Pakistan consistently !!!!!! You won this one after few years of hammering. I fully expect the status quo to get back in future

Fakhar Zaman has a bright future as well. He seems very fit guy with a good head on his shoulder. I first spotted him in the PSL. Since that time he has improved his game immensly. He used to be a leg side hack. In this tournament he has shown variety of shots.

Shadab for a youngster is a prodigy. The guy shows great game awareness. Knows when to bowl where. He's still needs time to improve but I am certain he will become a great allrounder as time goes on.

Other than these guys we still got Hussain Talat in our domestic right now. He is someone people compared to Sangakara in his style of batting.

how many Pak openers ive seen burst on the scene since Saeed Anwar.

Farhat Nazir Hameed so many of them had bright spots in their career. but ended up deceiving.

Fakhar has weak spot against bounce n other teams will exploit that.

will be there to see if he can overcome those issues.
