Stan AF Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Great numbers Kohli is setting himself up for some huge expectations. These 100s won't matter for much if india don't win the WC. And people will be throwing at his face just like how they were throwing it at Tendulkar over the years. Switchblade 1
Real McCoy Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Also, the talk during that time was Sachin will score one test century and people will talk about it and ignore our dismal away performances. Almost every time he scored a test ton abroad, we lost. But when Dravid entered the picture, he scored a century in Johannesburg in 1996 after playing a lot of balls and we were almost winning that match. That was until rain played spoil sport and Cullinan stepped in to scored a century to draw it. But enough about tests. ODI - Kohli wins easily over Sachin Rasgulla 1

Kohli is far greater odi player because he averages 60 vs 44 and he scores 100s with ridiculous ease. Sachin the test player was very good, his peak average was 59 which Kohli is yet to reach.I will take Kohli over Sachin in tests too but he cannot go down as better test player if he quits today.Odis it is a different story Sachin is no match to Kohli. People come up with all nonsensical theories on how Sachin faced better attacks or played on more bowler friendly tracks in odis , that is all nonsense, Kohli has done more on spicy pitches than Sachin ever could do in odis. Only thing left for Kohli is having a big world cup. Dude you are the one who said, you ll pick sachin in tests because he has more 100s in Tests and has peak average. Wtf was that... babam Azam guy once had 90 average when he scored 3 100s against WI in a row. Peak average doesn't mean rats ass. Nikola 1

Real McCoy Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 (edited) @R!TTER If you want to go by stats, then Mike Hussey and MSD are better than Sachin . Let's not go there. Already some Sachin fans are hiding after today's performances by Kohli and Dhoni. Kohli is a better pressure player than Sachin. Everyone praises Sachin for his 98 against Pak in WC 2003 but no one talks about UV's 50 and Dravid's 40 in the same match without which we would have lost that game. putrevus Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 (edited) Run Rates exploded in 90s and 2000s compared to 80s but Sachin was considered better player than all those 80s players because he was better than them. Kohli is better than Sachin and it has got nothing to do with exploding run rates, it is all about Kohli and his style of batting which so far superior to Sachin, it is silly to put them in same sentence. ABDV is close but him having high average is not surprise because he bats lower down the order.Dhoni averages more than Sachin but even Dhoni knows his average is higher becuase he he bats at no5/6. Peak average after small sample size like Azam and Peak average of 59 after 100 tests there is a lot of difference.

And you know why that is, same reason why openers in test cricket avg less than players @3 or below. It isn't rocket science, the new ball is still the most potent weapon against any batter, especially when he's new at the crease. Well there's AB who's avg above 60 & striking close to 120 in the last few years, so there's that.

I don't rate any of them higher than Sachin, a career spanning 4 decades, late 80's till nearly mid 2010 isn't something gets overtaken in a matter of one decade. In that sense Kohli still has to finish his career before we can stack their numbers against one another, but like I said SRT has 3 great WC performances while Kohli has 0 atm. If he can get anywhere close to the best, Viv & SRT, in the next 2 WC & help us win at least 1 then he can lay a claim to the GOAT batter in ODI - atm it's a tossup between Viv & Sachin, depending on who you support more. Avg isn't everything, surely after watching the last game, which we lost, or the one at Lord's you'd know that. Edited January 15, 2019 by R!TTER Stan AF 1

I'll let you guess that person's name. They score more, not necessarily avg higher. Edited January 15, 2019 by R!TTER
