Indian Medical Association president Dr KK Aggarwal gives his views on the harmful conditions the third Test was played in, in Delhi

 

The decision to play the Delhi Test amid high pollution levels has drawn strong criticism from both participating countries with the Sri Lankan manager Asanka Gurusinha and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) deeming the conditions far from ideal. While the IMA wrote to the BCCI and Vinod Rai, the head of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators, stating that it was troubled over the third Test between India and Sri Lanka being played in such conditions, Gurusinha urged the ICC to deploy air-quality meters in the future.

Gurusinha further said both the India and Sri Lanka dressing rooms had to use oxygen cylinders. "The players are not able to breathe so we're using oxygen cylinders in the changing room. This has been medically advised to us," he told Mumbai Mirror. "Even the Indian team is using oxygen cylinders in the dressing room."

Good, stop put complete ban playing sports (domestic or international) in Delhi, until the Capital’s shame of pollution is eradicated

Ind has to use incidences like this to drive awarness for keeping the environment first 

 

No matter what the urgency is, environment cannot be harmed. Air pollution is visible in places like Delhi because of the smog but also think of all the harmful chemicals and waste that is dumped in to the water systems

 

Not to forget the reduction in forest cover. And then the pundits claim Ind has a decent amount of agricultural land

If it is true that both teams had oxygen cylinders in their dressing rooms I withdraw my criticism of the Lankans. This is shocking, NGT must step in and fine BCCI heavily over this fiasco. How dumb are these *s?

Read comment of one of ICFer who attended the match. Indian team had ambulance ready for that and spectactors left because of the conditions.

 

This is certainly not a war where we should just how manly a person is on the basis of their willingness to stay there. No one should be treated like this just for a cricket match.

OK I missed that part. Now I am glad the Lankans drew the test, as such it was a great gesture on their part to not forfeit the match, a loss for them would have been too cruel. I dare these BCCI dimwits to schedule a match against Aus/Eng in Delhi during winter. Just because SLCB is a meek board these BCCI mofos think they can do anything and get away with it. Also not fair on our players, outdoor sports must be banned in Delhi during Oct-Feb unless there is marked improvement in air quality.

true its 3 states around it and pakistani punjab ( they impact Lahore as well) needs a pan government clean up. green tax probably fund and move the crop stubble for safe disposal and get subsidized fertilizers in a bit. Needs some coordination and movement.
