Latest farce from BCCI, reduces ODIs from 2019-23 cycle, increases T20 games

Even if you dont get along with someone you can still act like professionals. Kumble was blind sided. As a minimum Kohli could have come out and said following things are being done incorrectly by Kumble and those need to be fixed. What happened behind the scenes was back stabbing.

But everything happened according to procedure. Kumble's tenure was anyway over and they did not renew it. Then why should have Kohli come out and say. Kohli did the right thing by not coming out. People did try to clear things up but it did not happen.

Looking at the proposed FTP for all and sundry it is actually ODIs that is taking the biggest hit not Test cricket. Far less 5,6,7-game bilateral series. No more long tours with Test, ODI and T20. Test cricket is still very integral to the FTP. The focus is obviously on having more meaningful encounters.

Test Cricket is on its last legs anyways. It will be only good till we have few good test players left. Nowdays, focus is just on T20 that no one wants to learn how to leave the ball. If you aren't flashy, you are not allowed to hang around the team. 10 foot pole is used to keep you away. Result of that is: Project Yuvraj, Project Raina, Project Dhawan, Project Rohit.

T20 crickets feeds of the talented players dreaming of becoming great Test cricketers. Does any talented fast bowler grow up and think, wow I want to become a GREAT T20 bowler? Don't think so. The format cannot exist on its own non-existing narrative. Sadly, Test cricket could do with the financial gains from T20 cricket. Therefore, I see the two formats exist together for a long while still.

It took 14K posts for you to come up with a meaningful post. Stereotyping people/cities is not good buddy.

You called it a meaningful post and on other side a stereotyping people/cities.. :hysterical: you stick to " All all-rounders are like unicorns they don't exist and DK is the Best crap" that's where your strength is.. what a clown:facepalm:

You can say that about the current generation of players - but I think the kids that are 8, 10, 12 years old today, are going to start caring less and less about tests, and more about T20s - which is well on its way to becoming the primary format of cricket.  I don't necessarily want that to happen, but the writing is on the wall.

The incentives, financial and otherwise, are just massively skewed in favor of players who are successful in T20 rather than the other way around.   I'm assuming you are South African, and you tell me - how many kids would rather follow in a Dean Elgar or Temba Bavuma's footsteps, rather than AB "Mr. 360" Devilliers?

Your first part was good and second part the usual crap that is to be expected from you. You rarely disappoint.

For every Elgar and Bavuma there is a Steyn and Amla. Rabada grew up with IPL and Gayle and AB. Yet he wants to be a Test great first and foremost like Steyn and Donald. Doesn't stop him from cashing in on T20s if he wants to. Yes, there are T20 specialists but its generally not top flight Test talents.

Well I hope things stay that way - test cricket is a true reflection of a player's calibre.  And I wouldn't want to see players de-prioritize it.  I guess time will tell.

Ishan Porel's comment in a CB article "Everyone's dream is to play senior Indian team, especially play Test cricket. But that is a distant dream. I need to go step by step. First I've to do well in this match, and then the next, and then the next." Youngsters still rate test cricket highly.
