Trichromatic Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) Quote India will host 81 more home games in the 2019-23 cycle but the number of days have been reduced, it was decided at the Board of Control of Cricket in India Special Governing Body meeting on Monday (December 11). The total number of playing days relating to the 2019-2023 time period for India have been reduced to 306. India are scheduled to play for a total of 390 days in the 2015-19 cycle and the decision was taken after Virat Kohli expressed his reservation with the amount of cricket that's being played. BCCI's acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary had earlier acknowledged that the viewpoints of India captain and other team members will be taken into consideration while discussing the future tours programme (FTP). "Unfortunately we get only two days before we fly to South Africa after this series gets over. So we have no choice but to be in game situation and think of what's coming ahead of us," the Indian captain had said ahead of the Nagpur Test against Sri Lanka. "Had we got a month off, ideally, we would have done a proper preparation in a camp sort of scenario but we have to make do with what we have. As usual, [we're] cramped for time, which I think we need to assess in future as well because we very easily assess the team when we go abroad but we don't look at how many days we have got to prepare before we go to a particular place to play." Kohli had said. The board also agreed to lift the ban from Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) given Lalit Modi, the former RCA president, stays away from its function. It was also decided that India will play Afghanistan in a Test in India in the next two years. "Afghans were scheduled to play their first Test in 2019 versus Australia but considering the historic relationship between India and Afghanistan, we decided to host their first Test," said Choudhary. The board continued to maintain its position and confirmed it won't allow it's players to be tested by National Anti Doping Agency (NADA). India's new FTP may have more T20 games Quote The previous FTP had 36 Tests, 73 ODIs and 18 T20Is with a total of 127 games, whereas the newly prepared FTP will have 37 Tests, 67 ODIs and 54 T20s - a total of 158 home and away international matches. But sources said that these games will be spread out evenly and won't be cramped like the earlier FTP. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/news/indias-new-ftp-may-have-more-t20-games/articleshow/62015824.cms What's the fuss about number of playing days? There are so many young players ready to play for those 84 extra days. If reducing workload is required, then it can be done without reducing matches. Just rotate players and give chances to those who are waiting eagerly for it or warming benches. Edited December 12, 2017 by rkt.india JaFanatic, Shunya, beetle and 2 others 1 4
chewy Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 81 more home games, sounds a lot of extra games so how many were planned originally in the four year cycle?

Gollum Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Test cricket shouldn't take a hit, we can achieve greatness in this format. I hope we get less ODIs going forward.
sandeep Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Reducing 20 playing days per year for the Indian team - but stay tuned for an IPL expansion in the same 4 year timeframe. velu and Gollum 1 1

Removing an ODI or T20 takes out 1 game, 1 day. Removing tests takes out 1 game 5 days.
Trichromatic Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 This is farce from BCCI. They have got wrong solution for the problem. JaFanatic 1
Khota Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I think India should slowly abandon ODI and strengthen T20 game. That willincrease India's clout in world cricket. If any country can afford increase workload it has to be India. There are so many young players coming thru the ranks who can be developed.

Khota Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I have zero problem if test Cricke taks a hit. To me tests prove nothing. Some of the most useless athletes like Geoff Boycott played it. Rasgulla, Jimmy Cliff, Gollum and 3 others 4 2
Gollum Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Did Kohli really ask BCCI to reduce tests in his consultations? After how well our test team has played of late.

CT17 loss to Pakistani in final 3. Getting number of tests reduced in next 4 years 4. Encouraging worst catching in last 40 years 5. Getting Shastri as coach Detonator, beetle, Rasgulla and 1 other 4

Now wondering which one is his bigger achievement - getting Kumble sacked or removing 2-3 tests per year from Indian team schedule. I see a very sinister pattern here. He has finally realized that he has no chance of surpassing SRT's test tally. But if he can get more ODIs, 19000 ODI runs is reachable considering the prevailing balance between bat and ball. In Kohli's mind if he finishes as top ODI and T20 run scorer of all time, he will be regarded by the chewtiya public as the GOAT batsman. True, moronic Indian fans (majority) with no knowledge about the history of the game will buy that line of argument but in the eyes of proper knowledgeable Indian fans, Indian cricket will suffer, our overall standing in the game will be sacrificed at the altar of one man's unlimited greed and selfishness. Make no mistake, his firing of Kumble (Dumbledore) was not because of cricketing reasons, it is a well thought out long term strategy. Kumble was an honest selfless servant of Indian cricket who had a vision for team India, Kohli (Lord Voldemort) wanted chamchas (think of Shastribot as Pius Thicknesse) in that post. He wanted to become the undisputed dictator and block potential bright prospects. Eg: KL Rahul (Harry Potter), who has the potential to become a superior version of Kohli has been shunted away to accommodate guys like Dhawan, Rohit (test) and Pandey/Karthik/Jadhav (shorter formats). Kohli is scared of Rahul because he knows Rahul is a potential super star. Takes me back to Lord Voldemort, why did he want to control the wizarding world? It was not just his hate for muggles, he wanted a surveillance over the schools of the entire wizarding world (esp Hogwarts). By doing this he wanted to weed out potential threats, all wizards have to hone their skills in a schooling system....by identifying potential future Dumbledore's in their young age and killing them the immortal Voldemort would remain undisputed no 1. I see a similar trait between Kohli and the Dark Lord, hope the brat's wings are cut off before he does irreparable damage to Indian Cricket, at least unlike Voldemort he has no Horcruxes.
