Nucleus of this Indian side

High time Kohli builds a nucleus. It was there. He managed to disintegrate it . Now he has another opportunity rebuild it.  There are certain players who have to be integral part of the team. Kohli should not be messing with their selection  In my view following 3 should be a must

Rahane

Bhuvaneswar

Pujara

M Vijay (atleast for now)

That is like 5

Seamer/spin combination should be based on pitches.

Pandya's bowling is bit of a worry. If he becomes a bowler like Stokes then he is worth being persisted with. Otherwise his place should not be a dead cert as his batting is inconsistent.

Dhawan / Rahul  - Ideally i want to give Rahul a long rope. But i can go with either on a flat pitch.

Rahul , shami, ashwin shud also be a part of this nuclues

A lot of faith has to be shown in rahul , in terms of ability their arent many like him in India. U have to build crickters and it cant be done by giving chances to others on flat

Let him play on every surface, the more he plays the betetr he gets .

Dhawan shudnt be in part of scheme. Runs on flat pitches will only help rahuls confidence. Ultimately we need rahul not dhawan in test

Good list. I would add Bumrah to the list and rotate the pacers as needed.

I also left out Jaddu he has been India's best bowler in last 12 months; but because it's all overseas tours now he is less relevant.  Bumrah is second most effective behind Bhuv now for sure. Shami has been the best fast bowler and third behind Ash and Jaddu

Please no Dhawan and we should move on from Saha as well ,my list will be :

Rahul

Vijay

Another opener

Pujara

Kohli

Rahane

Bhuvi

Shami

Another keeper

Sorry still not fully convinced by Pujara. This was a tough series for batsmen so giving him a pass but he must score in England .The role of non3 can't just be about seeing off new ball.He has 1 hundred outside Asia after nearly 10 years of international cricket .That's an aweful record.

Yes Pujara is an absolute must in Asia but have to look for some one else at no.3 for Australia and New Zealand tours unless he succeeds in England .By succeed I mean by atleast averaging 50 for the series.

The nucleus should be build around our pace attack of Bhuvi Shami and Bumrah and batting of Kohli and Rahane.

Bhuvi

Kohli

Rahane

Bumrah

Shami

Saha.

Vijay , Rahul and Pujara should play the England series but their place for future should be based on success there.Otherwise need to move on to other promising youngsters for Australia tour.

If all 3 of Pujara, Vijay and Rahul fail in England, then we still can’t discard all three for Australia. We will have to keep 2 of them at least since we can’t expect to do well with 3 new youngsters in Australia.

We will have to give either of the two opener and Pujara till end of the year.

You can’t win overseas if you keep changing the team, like we did here in the series.

Yes, Pujara has to do better than what he has done so far overseas.

Not enough time. Time for replacements or rejoicing is next home season.

Then Vijay and Rahul should kept based on their record in Australia.Atleast Vijay has phenomenal record in Australia.

Pujara record sucks in Australia too so should be dropped if he fails in England.

Time will decide, I feel Pujara will deliver.

India winning anyways in England so we migh well retain the squad for Australia the one which will play in England.
