Mayank Aggarwal's consistency is out of the world, yet I feel sad because the opening slots are already captured by Dhawan and Rohit, he deserves a run with the Indian team.

he usually goes through purple patches and then long spells of low-scoring innings. besides, opening is far too clogged - Rohit and Dhawan are first choices, and the likes of Rahul and Rahane are preferred as backups by management.

they are still through to the knockouts already.

Wrong. Delhi games are done and they are currently on top on 16 points. However Kerala vs Maharashtra and Bengal vs Himachal still remaining and both those game results are critical for Delhi.

One of Maharashtra or Kerala will finish at 18 points and take the number 1 position. So Delhi would have to hope Bengal beat Himachal who are on 14 points currently so that they remain on number 3 or else Himachal win will make sure Delhi finish on 3 at 16 points which will knock Delhi out of the tournament.

He has been really really good this Ranji season, he has probably fixed some of his technical flaws and I think that helped a lot. Most of the good players don't do well because of those little flaws which always lead them to making mistakes and now that he has corrected them, I think he deserves a run, but you're right, we have our backup openers.

Just like the speed watch thread serves as a nice ready reckoner for quicks in India, we need one for batsmen. Some very good talents coming through. Rinku Khanchand Singh is one such. Just 20 years old and has had a terrific start to his domestic career. Played a blinder today against HP, 91 off 44 deliveries.

Start one for the batsmen.

Yes I agree.

It seems Mayank is as good as Shreyas Iyer or Manish Pandey and he should replace Rahane as Rahane is not fit for Odi or T20.

Bengal beat HP.

Does that mean Delhi is through to the KOs.
