tenDo's record looks like Bradman in comparison to the rest thanks to all the weak teams he played against. Rayudu is lucky since he will end his career with a 50+ avg, which is something very few will be able to claim.

whatever happened to richards? I'd agree that Bevan was the greatest finisher of all time, but mostly in matches with middle-to-low targets. The only match where he scored at a high SR against a big target was that 180-odd against a multi-nation XI.

Exclusion of Zim seems arbitrary. Yes, they were crap from the mid-2000s onwards but so was Bang until the 2010s. And SL was pretty ordinary in the 80s. I think the exclusion of Zim feels "tailored" to remove Rayudu from the list (which I have no problem with personally).

I think it's best to go back to non-Test playing nations. Sure, there are some utter weaklings even in the Test teams, but at least there is the official "sanction" given by ICC for these teams. And when Ind played Zim in the 1990s (like os SRT) they were not a bad team, certainly much better than Bang or even the WI of today IMO.

Exclusion of Zim was based on their last 12 years or so, which is incorrect.

I guess this list of avgs (with or without Zim) really goes on to show that stats aren't everything :) All sorts of batsmen near the top. Some ATGs, some greats, and some that were merely "good".

Combine this with SR, consider what a good SR is for his era ... and you would get the top players.

that would be a much better metric, but it would still claim that Trott (and Rayudu if included) was better than likes of KP, which I cannot fully agree with. I think Trott was underrated as an ODI bat, but that doesn't make him a better player than KP (or even Nick Knight) in my book.
