Pant to an extent yes...but he will get more chances.

Iyer has not been disappointing.

Pant has been disappointing but is not average. Iyer is average. But both haven't got enough chances to form a conclusive opinion.

Most of the time its the pace prospects  who get hyped or to put it better way  talked about excitedly.

Its because the parameter which is used . If some one bowls  a few deliveries above 142-144+  in a Tamasha match like IPL we go GAGA over him.

I think the best way to judge such pace prospacts is to see if :

1. He takes loads of wickets in domestic circuit .

2. Also gets wickets /troubles batsmen consistetetly on list A games .

he was a very good Ranji bowler. Certainly deserved his chance and if anything should have played more.

This goes back to Tics point that icfers wanting him in the side wasn't him being hyped but asking for him to be rewarded for excellent domestic performance. Doubt anyone here claimed he was going to be an all time great

Indeed a Ranji performer, but every Ranji performer cannot be given a game considering the international squad has 17 players at most and about the 7 of them are certain starters.

I didn't say anyone made claims that he would be ATG, however the reactions did give a feel that the selectors were keeping a star player on bench. Good that they played him and he himself solved the issue why he wasn't given chances.

Lol you are judging him based on him missing whole playing last 7 balls in a high pressure game in his frst t20 batting outing and hat too in a while.

Well done.

Hence I say in t20s, don’t judge young players.

One match?

What has he done? Has played 5 matches and been at best ordinary in each.

SL : 2-0-15-0

BAN : 4-0-32-2 (one decent over..other 3 were loose)

SL : 3-0-30-1

BAN : 4-0-28-0

Finals : 4-0-48-0 (12 RPO in a final)

102 balls 153 Runs @ 9 RPO

just3 wickets

Plus today's **** Batting that almost lost us the trophy.

All this against two below par teams.

Dude younare talking about his bad batting and sharing bowling stats.

Whats up with that?

He batted for the first time.

He has been hyped like others because he has scored plenty of runs in domestic and not for his bowlign.

Don’t judge him by his bowling. He is a Batsman first.

You don’t make it to Indin team like that.

Judge him after he he has played at least 10-15 ODI’s, and not this t20 game where he is having to throw his bat under pressure.

I am just evaluating him as a player. He is in the team as an all-rounder and if he is isn't doing one half of it even decently then he has no place in the side. It doesn't matter if his batting is good or not...his bowling is too bad as of now bad for him to be in the team.
