The ICC reaffirmed this even as they make public the results of a first, comprehensive global market research, one it hopes will guide them in growing the game further. The research threw up some eye-catching figures: over one billion fans; nearly 300 million participants; and nearly 40% of all fans being female.

The survey was carried out in the 12 Full Member countries, and China and the USA - the latter two because they've been identified as non-traditional markets with huge potential for growth.

 

That growth, however, will be channelled through the shortest format. The survey did not ask fans direct questions on what they thought about the size of the 50-over World Cup, and neither was it carried out in major Associate Member countries.

It looks like T20 will be the format of the future for cricket with a 92% approval rate

what one spent does not matter. Even viewership ob TV matters because that is what brings the most moolah.

most of the die hard test match fans simply pretend to love tests because they are in a wrong impression that test match is for classy fans

does that really come as a surprise when India itself has more population than all other test playing nations?

Test cricket with 70% approval and T20 with 92% approval. No mention of ODIs it looks like.

 

Hopefully they are also still popular and weren't cannibalized by T20s. 

 

ICC ruined the quality of ODIs by trying to turn them into extended T20s. T20s are fine as there are, and ODIs were best in 2011 era where 6 rpo was actually an achievement. 

 

Bring back 1 new ball rule to bring reverse swing and spin back into the game and restore some semblance of balance to the format.
