Bumrah is the enforcer that India missed in the 1st test. Clean up specialist. Miserly with runs and effective in provoking batsmen towards false shots like with Butler yesterday.

And we need to develop a backup enforcer  for occasions when Bumrah is not there.

 

Not easy to find ... but the selectors need to be on the lookout.

Last game it was not about Ishant or any bowler. When your batsmen don't score 100 runs, bowler tend to do too much and end up with nothing. The same thing is happening to England bowlers too this test.

Ishant goes missing for entire match while Shami goes missing for a session or two. Shami over Ishant any day.

They both go missing regularly. Shami has less control over movement, swing mainly, while Ishant is less penetrative on docile surfaces. BK is much better than both, in these conditions.

On a serious note ...  Ishant does not have the extra pace needed for an enforcer bowler ...  he is fast-medium.

Ishant does not have any skill other than being a workhorse who can plug one end up.

Ishant to me is the initiator. He will often take the first to 3rd wicket and trigger a collapse. The rest then take over. Would be nice if he got 2-3 wickets today though, we need him to strike
