He only struck form last game and this game. He was pathetic before that. Sure management screwed him up a little but he was out of form before that and also had a disastrous county season where even Ishant and Ashwin did better than him.

So in a way good for team management to back him atleast recently

He has been our best batter after Kohli. Also in the 2nd test, he was run out by Kohli. Not really his fault. But yeah our batting standards are quite low these days. Dhawan being called the best opener after scoring only 20's and 30's is proof of that.

Why did the Indian batsmen go in shell when a wicket falls. Didn’t expect this from Pant. Was Kohli or Shastri in his ears ?

Exactly  what was Pant trying to do playing out session when only one delivery is needed to send you back thats what Happened ironically it was the last over before tea,he gave the bowlers to bowl at him at their desired lengths ,Pant cant defend when it's not his domain

"Well, well. England hit back with a third wicket in the session, right on the stroke of tea - and Rishabh Pant, having got off the mark in Test cricket with a six, now equals the India record for longest Test duck (in terms of balls faced). England's lead is just 63 but they have chipped away, despite most of India's top six getting in; Cheteshwar Pujara is the only one who is still in, leading the fight with a gutsy 70, which included taking a blow full on the bonce. He is India's chief hope of getting a first-innings lead. "
