Up till now it's just Mithali's word against Powar's. Both the stories seem plausible. However, I have a hunch that Powar's story is more credible. Mithali is like the 'tendulkar' of the women's team, with long standing relationship with all the members. On the other hand Powar is a nobody and his contract is about to end. If Powar would have wronged Raj, atleast some of her teammates would have come out in her support till now. But no one has spoken a word against Powar yet. Which implies that either she is in the wrong or they don't like her much. The opener did not do well in one match. They should have carried on with that in the next match and given the player another chance . Mithali went over the captain and the coach and talked to the selector and got her opener slot back. That speaks a lot about the star culture. Why could Mithali not wait for a few matches for the experiment to be tried out? How is the management supposed to try something if superstars can't be touched without them going over their head to get decisions reversed? Why is the TM not siding with her? Why are the players not siding with her? This. If you go over Captain and Coach, undermine their authority, the team spirit evaporates. Thats how it was in men's cricket till 80s - superstars did what they pleased. Whether right or not, the fans and BCCI can question the coach/ captain, not a fr**ing player manager. The biggest clue here is, If Powar was solely responsible for her trobles, then why did Mithali and her manager spoke out so blatantly against Harman and Edulji? This explains that the whole team management was on the same page regarding Mithali. She probably started sulking after being demoted in that NZ match and allegedly threatened to quit. This led to her falling out with the team management and Edulji, who might have told her to listen to the coach, subsequently leading to her outster form the semis. After the team's loss, she got all the ammunition and went all out against the team management. Now having realised that she cannot have full fan support if she goes against a popular player like Harman, she zeroed in on an easy target like Powar. putrevus and sandeep 1 1 Link to comment

Nobody is bigger than game. That includes coach. You make the best call. When the match started nobody knew anything about it. But everyone was surprised including commies about dropping of Mithali. I am only looking at it from cricketing perspective not from the view of a coach who may or may not be entirely truthful about the situation. I never said they have no ego, did Dhawan come out sulk like Mithali after he was dropped from test team after one failure. They wanted Mithali to play in middle order which she refused and threatened to quit. Kumble the biggest match winner India has produced was dropped for Dinesh Mongia and India got hammered did Kumble sulk like Mithali. If coach has a game plan and he has everyright to implement it.Sachin was made to bat at no4 in odis.KOhli batted at no4 to get Rahul in at no3.Nobody is bigger than the team. IMO, CoA has done nothing but to damage Indian cricket not because they want to, but because are inept, politically naive, and easily manupulated by smart people with business interest. vvvslaxman
No she didn't sulk about dropping her down. She talked about coach being rude to her. Whatever she did was done in private. And also seeing the reaction from Mithali, looks like this bozo Powar is making up stories. Why is she still not retiring? HE has done far worse. Even assuming she did "threaten", your solution is not sit her out. You play her. Powar should be sacked just for floating the idea of replacing Mithali at the top order with a dud player. When Tendulkar was made to bat at 4 we had Uthappa opening not Not Ishant sharma. Mithali was replaced by a much much inferior opening batter. I am not sure why you defend this POS Powar. Vilander
Two people who were commentating on the practice game and Rohit innings, a veteran Aussie womans player and an other professional commentator who was very knowledgeable on Indian cricket were talking about Mumbai players and how there are so many from that region and said - ' it can even be called the mumbai mafia' haha hahaha so people are picking this term in this context lol..
