Should Team India pick 2 spinners for the Sydney test match?

On what basis should Pandya get a chance?

The guy is as bad as Mitchell Marsh and Australia are going to drop him for this test. Why should we include his Indian clone?

This is a blind forum. Pandya walks on water here. This team has won two tests without an allrounder but screw that combinatin, let us go back to being below average.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kohli plays the same XI, firstly because he won't want to change a winning team and secondly because nobody really knows how the pitch will be.

Personally I support the idea of a second spinner but not at the expense of a pace bowler. Taking out one of the non performing batsmen isn't going to cost us any runs.

I dont buy this argument that Indian bowlers need rest. Yes conditions were hot , but these bowlers are used to it.

India bowled 157 overs. Less than 2 days play. Plus they were distributed well.

Day 1 0 overs

Day 2 less than 10 overs

Day 3 around 60 overs

Day 4 around 70 overs

Day 5 a few overs

This is in contrast to the aussies who bowled 170 overs on the trot. Indian pacers received timely breaks.

It is good if they do not need break. Ishant though did look off the mark. And if we are playing 2 spinners among the 4 specialist bowling slots, he could be the one getting replaced by one of the spinners (as Bumrah and Shami have been in top form)

Play either Rahul or Vijay in place of Vihari as opener. Vijay can bowl.

Mayank,Vijay/Rahul,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane,Rohit/Pandya,Pant,Jadeja,Bhuvi/Kuldeep,Shami,Bumrah.

Vihari has been found out. They will simply bounce him out.

If pitch has something for spinners, then play Kuldeep. If Kuldeep plays, then Pandya can be picked in place of Rohit as backup if Shami or Bumrah get tired.

End of day 4 , yes a bit tired, understandable (thank god did not enforce follow on as one would have got injured)

But today Bumrah and Ishant roared in and blew aussies away.  Pace and hostile.  Ishant if on pitch with some bounce is a must.

The 3 seamers need to go again.  One last big effort for Bharat, then feet up and drinks with the boss(ravi) after well earned rest.

Yeah I like the current trio of Pacers and I think even kohli understands that they are a permanent fixture in SENA but just for the extra bowling option we can go with pandya instead of rohit

Ishant needs to be replaced by Pandya. and probably Ashwin replaces Rohit ( really if ashiwn is fit and its a spinning track - or open with Puj and drop Vihari - i think Rohits big score is really around the corner)

If it's a spinning track as Paine suggested then these changes makes sense perfectly .you'd then want the extra spinner and you get a batting depth
