Are we missing Pandya already?

hmm hard to see a role for Pandya even in India. 2 spinners and 2 pacers is enough in the subcontinent. May as well play keeper plus 6 frontline batsman.

Personally this was probably the test to play Pandya. Vihari could have opened. Post this tour Shaw and Agarwal are probably the pair of choice.

Once Pandya is in, threads for Parthiv and Shaw opening combo.

 I support talented youngsters .... m neutral about Parthiv and Jadeja

my fav current players are -> Pujara, Kohli, Bumrah, Pandya, Kuldeep, Shami, Shaw, Pant, Gill (on potential) .... mostly young talented players that I try to support  .... once likes of  Pandya get a decent run will probably not support him if not performing

Still no one missing him.

Let's see what happens tomorrow.

What criteria are you using now?

Tons of ppl have posted that Pandya should be playing. We saw how Aus bowlers faired, and under such circumstances likes of KL and Rahane failed

I hope you are not equating being saved by those whose position are not in question such as Pujara, Pant, etc as all is well

Not at the expense of Vihari I hope, he's showing some promise. He also has a better bowling avg/SR than Pandya if someone's keen on copy pasting numbers :giggle:

Missed the gem above^

FACT: In SEA in 2018, where both of them have played, Pandya had a better SR as a bowler (and despite bowling with an older ball many times) and also won a test in Eng

Despite being a specialist batsman, Vihari has not even looked like getting a 50 in this series on a consistent basis (and in no time has been found out vs short ball). If he batted in SA, his avg probably would have been be even lower .... Point being that it is difficult to play all 3 of KL/Rohit, Rahane and Vihari in the 11 :winky:

Lol. Vihari is good stop throwing stats for a new kid. You completely ignore the unfair decision he got in this test and got promoted as opener to accommodate others.

Appears as if you have forgotten that Pandya is in his first season and good too .... And stats were thrown by the poster I responded too. Don't have to get too excited if Vihari does not measure up

Gosh, it was a joke! I stated Vihari's bowling average & SR as a joke and u brought out the filter to show pandya's better average ? Do you monitor body temp & blood pressure as closely  and consult a doctor on 98.6 deg or 121/80 ?

Vihari is a very new kid on the international scene & shows the needed promise with the bat which was missing in Eng. Unless Pandya brings out that batting potential, he shouldn't be # 6/7.

Pandya has shown better match winning abilities both with the bat and the ball
