True, they were true ATG side, no injury could stop them. Imagine Zak missing WC 2011 lol

I'd pay to watch current Indian team take on that mighty Aussie team.

2003 Aus too deserves special mention: Hayden, Gilly, Ponting, Martyn, Symonds, Lehmann, Bevan, Bichel, Hogg, Lee, McGrath. I rate it below 2007 team because Lehmann, Bevan were on their last legs in ODI cricket, and not dynamic enough so the explosive finishing power was lacking. Besides they had a 5th bowler problem and the aura wasn't at max level. Interesting to note Warne missed 2003, Brett Lee missed 2007 (when he was best in the world) and they still stomped through all teams mercilessly.

Hayden, ponting were on last leg 2007 as well

Aus 2003, that team was scary as hell even winning  just  one match against them  considerd to be an accomplishment. :adore:.they had atleast  2goat (Warne, McGrath ) , couple of atgs ( Ponting, gilchrisht etc) and many greats .

Lee was the Goat ODI bowler, not Warne. Warne didn't play in 2003.

There is no team in history which would score against that 1983 WI bowling easily. That is the best ever bowling attack in any world cup team.Even without spinner those four giants would make run scoring tough for any team in any conditions.

They would demolish any Aussie world cup winning team easily in a series.

Nah. Aussie batting was just too strong especially against pace.  Aussie bowling attack was even better.

The 1999 Aus team is man to man much better then the 2003 team.

Mark Waugh

Steven Waugh

bevan

Shane Warne

Tom Moody

Paul Riefel

vs

Hayden

Clarke

hussey

symonds

hog

bracken

Hayden, Clarke better than mark and Steve waugh. Lee better than Reiffel. Symonds better than Moody

Hayden was the highest scorer in that WC :giggle: and Ponting enjoyed the best year of his career just a year before

There was no Warne in 2003

2003 aus team was cohesively much  better  than 1999 and 2007 .                         1999 Australia  team's  victory  was just a fluke, South  Africa  was better  team but choked in  a desisive moment so their  victory  was not as convincing as you suggested.                                                         2007 aus team had some clear advantage in my opinion  ,over a period  of time they had created  some psychological domination on other team .their lagecy was so immense that other teams intimidated by justseeing Australian team and lost half battle before  stepping out on the ground. (Pakistan and india did fairly poor in that wc). I would  not want to go in depth how Australia  stated as winner ( inspite  of draw) just cause South  Africa  choked by just 1 run in league  stage (1999)and Adam gilchrisht hide some squash ball into his gloves in final (2007)and scored match winning 149 with mediocre  bowling line-up which includes (brad Hogg, Shaun tait, nathan bracken, michel Clark :facepalm:)

Greatest batsman captain

Greatest Leg spinner

Greatest ODI fast bowler

The original greatest finisher

Man for man every single player a match winner from top to bottom. With all due respects to the greatest West Indian team of the 80s 1999 Aussie WC team is my all time favorite.

Both of them had their best returns that year. Hayden was WC top scorer and Ponting was ICC player of the year.

1 Bond made life hell for that Aussie team. Now imagine Marshall, Roberts, Holding, Garner in tandem for 30 overs straight (Lloyd's strategy those days) at full tilt. No batting line up can stand against that kind of bowling.

That would still be Joel Garner. Sorry but the 80s WI pace bowling unit blows everyone else out of the water. Imagine how ATG Aussies would fare against 4 Bonds operating for the 1st 30 overs of an innings with no respite !!! And 80s WI had a scary top 4, even better than 99/03/07 Aus IMO.

I don't think any of them was even close to Bond. Shane Bond was just a special bowler if not for his injuries.

Bowlers can have their good days but all 4 having a good day together is highly improbable. You needed something special against that team every time which isn't possible

Scary top 4 with SR in 60s except Viv. Don't think they could have handled even Brad Hogg, a rare commodity.

So? Hayden was still on his last leg and retired by next year. Like SRT was on his last leg in 2011 and was top run getter.

Marshall was overall GOAT, Garner was ODI GOAT, Roberts averaged 20, Holding 21. Not even close you say :cantstop:, but then again you are one of those who will say the Earth is flat just for the sake of arguing.

When all 4 are of such high calibre, rest assured even on normal days they will be very difficult to deal with.

Again just for the sake of arguing. Different rules those days with red cherries, liberal bouncer rule, long boundaries, no free hits, relaxed fielding restrictions etc, openers were required to survive the initial overs like test cricket. A maverick like Srikkanth had SR 72 as opener. Their SR is no worse than Hayden's if you take the era into account. But if you want to go down that route this Indian batting line up will be superior to the 2000s Australian one based on stats alone. You agree with that?

Yeah they could destroy Indian spinners in India across formats, but Hogg would be their nemesis. Makes total sense.

Let us play by @rkt.india's rules, checking stats (Avg, SR combo)...

Dhawan (45, 94)>Gilly (36, 97)

Rohit (47, 88)>Hayden (44, 79)

Kohli (59, 93)>Ponting (42, 80)

Rayudu (47, 79)>Martyn (41, 78)

Jadhav (43, 103)>Symonds (40, 92)

Dhoni (51, 88)>Bevan (54, 74)

Pandya (29, 117)=Lehmann (39, 81)

Hence proved that 2019 Indian batting line up>>>>2003 Australian batting line up. That sounds reassuring:laugh:

With bowlers like Bumrah, Shami, Kulcha this 2019 Indian team might be the mightiest ODI team to walk on the planet . Just how did they manage to lose to the 3rd string Aussie team at home a few days back? Could it be that current Aussie team is its strongest in history? Or that India had a temporary blip and normalcy will be restored when our ruthless unbeaten run in the upcoming WC will make people forget about the undefeated campaigns of 2003/07 Aus :dontknow:.
