Is cricket the most unprofessional sport?

Played in just 12 countries max and followed by 10 countries. Unfit athletes in every team. Matches get affected by even a single drop of drizzle. Incompetent head board, not really interested in spreading the game.

No, cricket is the, most complicated (fun) team sport there is! Imagine playing rapid chess on tour de France, the outcome of which could well have been decided a the toss

Outside of the subcontinent it is perceived as being a boring sport, especially in England and I'm sure it is the same in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies.

 

The only exciting version T20.

 

There are plenty of worse sports though such as darts, snooker, baseball.

In the subcontinent it is perceived as a cool sport. Cricket and cool don't go together in England. The image a lot of people have of cricket here is of old men in white hats reading newspapers as the game is being played.

What makes it worse is that test cricket is the most popular form of cricket here.

the main thing is 'subcontinent' .  And people's interest matters whether it be of subcontinent or outside of it. As per general perception Cricket is the sport with 2nd best viewership  behind football. So it is not boring.

That's because it's not the the national sport here , football and cool go together here big time . As much as Indians are confused why it is and can't understand why  they don't change over to cricket it will never happen 

Test cricket is cricket , ODI and T20 are not cricket just played on the same field with same equipment

Yes it does but that is historic going back well over a hundred years .

The Ashes is iconic between Australia and England 

I am thinking if cricket is not really popular here why are the grounds full with Brits , were all those British Asians that supposedly is keeping cricket going but we never hardly see any play or spectate except for India and Pakistan games , were they just unlucky and never got tickets ?

That is the honest truth. It is unprofessional at best. Fitness level is atrocious and equivalentto division III teams.

The ashes is more important to the English fans, media and players than the world cup is. Some English fans even mock limited overs cricket calling it pyjama cricket. Every day of every test match will be sold out during the ashes here. There was a massive turnaround when England beat Australia in the 2005 ashes and since that England have gone crazy over the ashes. The two matches they won in that series were the ones McGrath was injured in.

Test cricket is popular amongst middle class English people. British Asians just don't take sports seriously and the vast majority still support their country of origin. When I was a kid I was a die hard India fan, less so now as I have more loyalty to England but when push comes to shove I still support India.

I think today there is 23,000 at WI v New Z at old Trafford , I don't think that game in India would attract that much of a crowd .

I don't think either the good people of Yorkshire , Durham , Lancashire and surrounding would class themselves as middle class as in the way you are suggesting .

England  always had full houses for ashes cricket

so it can be rightly assumed that  to follow   Ashes  a very high proportion of  British people  who otherwise  have not that much interest in cricket would follow it keenly  because of the  'historic' element  associated with it. Isn't it? Now, that is very interesting and also very satisfying  for an ardent game lover like me.
