prasen82 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I think opening is a good idea. No team introduces spinners and dhoni can be like jayasuriya and can smash fast bowlers. His mishits can go for Sixers. Anyways we are 7 down whenever he bats low.. some unorthodox moves could help..

You are underestimating dhoni he is capable of doing this in first attempt

Are u really that thick?? Or is that onerous to fathom.. dhoni won't even find a place in hong kong sixes cricket tournament as a "PINCH HITTING OPENER"... For ur information.. Hong Kong Cricket Sixes https://g.co/kgs/9AXPSQ it is a tournament.. not racism
sage Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Players need to run him out, 1 (4) will be invaluable to the team. Sometimes he's even 5 (5) Amit228 1
ViruDilSeKhelo Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 (edited) If it wasn't for Agarwal being drafted in, this wouldn't have been a bad move. Dhoni is an immovable object with a lovely home made technique and fast hands. He can quickly analyse what to do as he showed in tests v England when others failed. I know he would make 100 off 120 balls easily, starting off slowly and accelerating a little. But his real value is at 4 now but we never play him there. Now he's been working on the sweep to smash the spinners who are tying him down. He should just use his feet to spinners in every short, easy single. Fast bowlers can never tie him down. That jumping slash over point or nurdle off the hips he is very good at. He squirts the ball out with a lot of bottom hand. Edited July 2, 2019 by ViruDilSeKhelo

mishra Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 ^ Current Indian top order struggles against left arm seamers. Period!
Chalks Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I was going to suggest Pant opening in case of a seriously curtailed game. If he comes off, we get a fast start, if not we still have our “real” batsmen to come.

It's easy to forget seeing some of pant's brainless shots that here is a guy who did well in challenging conditions in Aus, and to some extent in Eng as well.
