He did not wish Dhoni happy birthday on twitter this year, which he did last year. After meeting Dhoni in NZ this year,I think he has come to know who Dhoni really is.But he do respect Yuvraj and credit him for guidance in his career. sergio04 and nevada 2

Vijy Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 There is a clear message coming out from TM and selectors that: (a) seniority trumps talent, and (b) mediocrity trumps talent. The reason behind (b) is clear: Ratman knows that he is Batman (the only one without superpowers) and is therefore fearful of a Superman stepping up to the plate. This is why we have seen the exclusion of Gill, the potential exclusion of Shaw (who allegedly has an "injury" whose status is unclear), and even the exclusion of Iyer who deserves more chances at 4 or 5. The reason behind (a) is because we seem to be regressing to the past where old fogies were deemed better players just because of their greater "experience". It has been a long time since I have seen selectors and TM in such determined cahoots to deny talented players opportunities. I'd say that the last era I can recall with this degree of incompetence is the 1990s. even in the 2000s and much of the 2010s, our selectors and TM made some baffling choices but nothing like the level of nepotism, corruption, embracing mediocrity, etc. that we are seeing as of lately. Gill, Shaw and other talented young batters will play on and on in domestics until their talent & zeal begins to drop. Players who are in late 20s but in red-hot form will not be given chances until its too late (e.g., Mayank in ODIs). We will persist with the same old spinners (Kulcha in ODIs and Ash Jaddu in Tests) without giving chances to Rahul Chahar, Gopal, etc. And finally, Nagarkoti, Mavi, Saini and co will be left to rot in domestics or on the bench until they become 130 kmph trundlers. sergio04 and beetle 2

Bigg Brother Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Good thing is that youngster like him is coming out and saying it and not sugarcoating like he will work hard and all that, he has worked hard and thats why he needs be selected at such tender age. This just shows his high self esteem showcasing that He is ready to play at this level and indirectly hinting that few non deserving deadbits are playing over him. Vijy Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 "merely" scoring 200s on challenging pitches is not enough. gill needs to score a 1000 on a pitch that is half green mamba and half raging turner. even then, the selectors, bewda and ratboi will conspire to invent excuses to keep himout of the team.
Epic Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 (edited) Gill's only played about 10 first class games so far. Someone like Iyer has already played over 50 FC games. Surely, he needs more experience as he's only played one Ranji season of FC probably. Being part of T2O/ODI team in the Windies tour is useless as he wouldn't have gotten in the playing XI anyways and would've missed out on the FC games. Sitting on the bench is useless just ask Rahul or even Yuvraj in his early days who missed out on FC cricket which likely hampered his development in the longer version. Edited August 9, 2019 by Epic

Personally, I feel as though this is the order in which he should be blooded: (a) ODIs and T20s, (b) Tests. I would have him in (a) immediately and (b) in < 6 months from now. nevada 1
