I mean playing all the test series in combination with Odis, t20, Ipl; when you play this much Cricket, burnouts and injury would happen. I know they wanna milk the cash cow cause more people would watch if the stars are playing, but still it’s not really good for the players. I fear for Bhumrah too bumrah is bigger issue since he is a fast bowler and we need him to win test matches in SENA nevada 1 Link to comment

Insidious
Virat Kohli should stop playing meaning less LOIs , and concentrate on tests, where he has some points to prove. Kohli has 6 double centuries and four of them has been scored in the span 1-1.5 yrs. He require another such purple patch to come closer to Smith. And there is no reason why he can't do that again. express bowling and Vilander 2 Link to comment
Stan AF
Actually it's time for our team to develop an all weather 50+ average batsman in addition to Kohli. Even pujara finds it difficult to consistently average above 50. express bowling 1 Link to comment

He shud leave LOI captaincy which will give him sometime to just concentrate on his game as batsman......Captaincy takes a lot out of an individual .....smith doesnt have that burden anymore Link to comment

rtmohanlal
moving forward it would be a tight contest between Kohli & Smith for that title of the best batsman of this generation. Just as was the case with Sachin-Lara in the 90s this would be an exciting contest. The Roots ,Williamsons and all others can be the Pontings,Kaliises, Dravids of that era. These 2 has convincingly moved ahead of the pack. Smith is a monster in tests & when conditions favours him can rack up huge scores one after the another irrespective of whether wickets tumble around him or not. In unfavourable conditions he can still avg: 'high 30s -low 40s'. Kohli too is not far behind in this regard with '593+ series totals' in 4 series as of now. His problems are his 'ODI influence' in tests there by trialing almost by 11 in avg: to Smith, generally a bit more pressure of expectations from crores of fans back home & too much burden on his shoulders(would benefit him a lot if he follows the Smith & Root way to relieve himself of at least ODI captaincy) . Across eras, there is no doubt that the lack of adequate <25 averaging bowlers in general is helping these 2 batsmen a lot in racking up these monster series aggregates. In ODIs these is no parallel to Kohli these days. Leads Smith by almost 19 in avg:(huge gap), leads him by whopping 35 in no: of 100s, chase master with 26 100s in chases(toughest job in ODIs), avg:ing above 45 in all countries, has won high profile bilateral series with his typical chases .Smith's country wise record is pathetic to say the least. Kohli has some high profile knock out inns in ODIs too. Kohli lags Smith by only 1 or 2 world cup knock outs. So all in all in ODIs , even if slightly lesser in weightage when compared to tests, Kohli leads Smith by a whopping margin. Last and the least , in T20s Kohli is a monster with some clutch knocks even in world cups where as Smith is virtually non-existent in this format. So all in all, 'Smith's utter dominance over the others in tests & his WC knock out performances put together ' enables him to lead over the likes of Willamson & Root , but not Kohli as of now. Kohli still for me as an over all batsman as of now.Moving forward it would be an interesting contest because on one side Smith is in the peak of his career and on the other side not all series are Ashes, the likes of Bumrah, Rabada, Abbas,Ashwin,Roach etc who are deadly in their own conditions would be waiting to make Smith 'come back to the group in tests'. Kohli seriously has to think about relieving him self off too much burden to be competent at least in his normal self. Edited September 9, 2019 by rtmohanlal Link to comment

New guy
Smith gained 33 points from this one test. To gain more points, not only do you need to score big, others from both teams should score less also. It helped smith that no one else scored 100 in this test Edited September 10, 2019 by New guy bahubali 1 Link to comment
