Pandey is more a calculating gap hitter than a power hitter.  Better ODI bat than a T20 one.  But he's not a good fit at #5 or lower.  He wanted to bat at #3, pushed for it, instead of quietly accepting the #5/6 assignment.  Result? Found himself out of the ODI mix.

Same reason Brohit held back Dinesh Karthik against toygers below Vijay Shankar - you want the less experienced batsman to come a bit early and bat under less pressure.

Guys like Pandey are not power hitters.He was contained so easily by a leg spinner in last overs.This is the problem I have seen in many domestic teams and also in Indian team.

 

Is Panday is T20 team? He should never be part of T20 team.
