Out of academic interest, that would make the gareeb Brahmin a member of the economically weaker section. There is a separate reservation for those. How does that make him a member of the backward class? Edited December 26, 2019 by Mariyam velu 1
randomGuy Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 In Union budget for the first time this year, the salary expense were less than the pension expense....at this rate, govt. Job openings would be few n far between.

Jat is the literally the strongest caste in India, by far ....by physical strength, by dominance, by land, by money, numbers in govt. Jobs, historically or present times, use any metric...yet jat is obc in Delhi (general in haryana)...the fact is that the reservation system is a farce today...if one person gets reservation, why should his son also be entitled for it? So, don't look for logic here. Edited December 26, 2019 by randomGuy

The classes listed in OP are sub-sects of brahmins who are traditionally poor because of generations of not being stronger politically or landowners etc. They are mainly from preists class of Brahmins. Brahmins who were knowledgable and appreciated by royal class, were invited to migrate from their places of origin (and hence power). Saraswat Brahmins in Kerala and Karnataka are backward because they didn't have prosperity for generations as they were migrants for economic reasons and were not allowed to prosper by other stronger sects of brahmins in that region. For instance, my ancestors are believed to be part of 60 families that emigrated from Bihar (yes, my ancestors were bihari! ) invited by royal families in Karnataka (more than 600 years ago), assimilated in that region, followed teachings of Madhwacharya, but we didn't own lands or powerful jobs. We came out of poverty only because of focus on Macaulay education and government/public sector jobs. Other sects are not so lucky. velu and Mariyam 2

My ancestors migrated from Maharashtra, old records have them with the Deshpande last name. In fact my sect itself is called 6000 neogis because there were believed to be only 6000 of us back in the day, adjusted to inflation may be 60000 today. if that is not minority not sure what else is Appeal to PM Modi and his highness Amit Shahji

Yes I agree that they should be covered under this category now that we have a right law in the country.

Bihar was literally teeming with Afghans till a couple of centuries back.

Just to give an example to fellow members - In my workplace one jat guy(110 kgs, tall n built like John Abraham...comes to workplace in ...yes, u guessed it, Mahindra Scorpio) was temporary who got selected for permanent govt. Job in obc quota at minimum qualifying marks and obc vacancies went vacant (as sufficient obc people couldnt even clear minimum qualifying marks)....General cut off is way beyond that as u would guess.

If that was the case then how come all of the modern day Haryana was under Muslim occupation and was part of the Royal Khalisa land(means the revenue collected of it went straight to the imperial treasury). Re Surajmal, ask that colleague of yours who bestowed the title of Maharaja upon him. Surajmal was a vassal of Jaipur. Sure he took advantage of the growing anarchy and weakening of the imperial mughal power but he never formally severed his relationship with Delhi and always considered the Emperor as his supreme overlord.
