zen Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) Game Rules: * pick a team to beat the 11 below * you cannot pick anyone from the 11 in the OP (as the team to beat it should be different) * you can pick only 11 players (so no X/Y) * Players should have either picked up 100 wkts or scored 2,000 runs ODI 11 * Sachin * Jayasuriya (AR) * Kohli * Richards * ABDV * Buttler (WK) * Stokes (AR) * Warne * Starc * Garner * Bumrah Notes for the 11 above: 5-6th bowling options: Stokes and Jayasuriya Part time bowlers: Richards and Sachin Pace bowling has variety with Garner (special bowler), Bumrah (unique bowler) and Starc (left arm) Garner has the best bowling avg and ER from those with 100 wkts or more Starc has the best bowling SR from those with 100 wkts or more Buttler has a batting SR of 120 Edited January 10, 2020 by zen
Nikola Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Where is sobers pandya? i thought you rated him ahead of bradman. On topic though looks like decent but chokers xi. Prime WI or Aus will anyday beat this side for wc finals. Stan AF 1

Not if there is another WK in the squad ADBV has a better power game. And of course hard to beat ABDV in 360 degrees game Buttler vs Dhoni can be a wash as Buttler has the power game to rival the best Not sure if Stokes < Klusener as Stokes has elevated his performances to ATG AR levels Strac vs Wasim. Though Wasim is more skillful, Stac is an impact bowler who can win the game on his own Garner is one of the greatest ODI bowlers Though McGrath is more experienced, Bumrah is unique Edited January 10, 2020 by zen kohli 1

Impact that players such as Jayasuriya made is unbelievable which is why they are rated among the best .... People understand that players like Jayasuriya will not compete on stats as they peaked late and played different roles through their careers .... Also 11s are made based on how the players complement each other. He is an AR who could bowl a few overs too Quote So you are telling me wasim hasn't won game on his own? Every good player can win games on his own. Relatively speaking Stac has 18 4 or more wkts haul in 85 innings, while Wasim has 23 from 351 innings. Also Starc has the best SR among pace bowlers with more than 100 wkts .... I have seen Wasim pick up a lot of lower order wkts too .... While both are good left-arm pace bowlers, I would give Stac at his best the edge Quote So was Brett lee in odis. All players on the list are good. Garner is a special bowler and also has the best avg (18-19) among those with 100 wkts or more .... Even when bowling among the WI great bowlers, Garner shone Edited January 10, 2020 by zen
zen Posted January 11, 2020 Author Posted January 11, 2020 (edited) Since someone mentioned WCs. In the OP team, 9 players have won the WC and many of them have delivered unbelievable performances in the final: Richards 1975 did 3 runouts (2 direct hits) from the top 4 batsmen including the Chappell brothers Richards MoM in 1979 138* Garner 1979 5/38 Warne MoM 1999 4/33 Stokes MoM in 2019 84* Also MoS, which started from 1992 iirc w/ Crowe Jayasuriya 1996 Sachin 2003 Starc 2015 Edited January 11, 2020 by zen

Cronje and Krunal just to bowl at SRT and ABDV . McG and Wasim will trouble that top order Virat included, but might just give Cronje the new ball ;-) Roy is/was v good vs Bumrah and Starc...Warner im less sure about but his power and SR plus being a leftie gives the oppo bowlers something to think about... Garner was a great but will not have faced anything like the kind of power modern batsmen generate; Rohit may struggle vs Starc? Two ODI ATGs to keep things solid at 3 and 4. I would like more firepower in the lower order even with MSD and Kapil and dont think anything can be done about Buttler if hes in the mood Edited January 11, 2020 by Sooda

Krunal does not qualify (though will be a cannon fodder for likes of Jayasuriya, Richards, etc.) PS The big shots like Border, Jones, Chappell, etc. have struggled against Garner .... the big bird probably has the best yorker in the game Edited January 11, 2020 by zen

Fielding is better than OPs team
RajBan Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Gilly (GOAT WK Batsman) Ganguly (First 7 years in ODI has been Kohliesque) Ponting (Kohli of 2000 and against great bowlers) Lara (Legend) Yuvaraj ( Batting AR and can be as destructive as AB) Dhoni (This team has like 5-6 great captains but he gets it for composure and handling of situations) Klusener (Best AR of 90s) Kapil ( Strong economy rate, picks-up wickets and can hit like anything) Akram (Legendary ODI bowler, Leftie, can reverse and can bat) Murali(Spin) Brett Lee (Express Fast and GOAT)
