In T20s Pant will be competing with Isan Kishan. No reason not to play both. But in the last 2 seasons Pant's strike rate has dropped big time. 113 during 2020 season 128 during 2021 season. Kishan despite poor season showed glimpses of his power this season. Last season was a decent one with a strike rate of 145. Pant can play one dayers. But in T20 his place is not assured yet until he proves he can be a reliable hitter down the order.

or he can be made to open.

Can't believe a batsman averaging 50+ in FC batted after Pandya in 2018 England series.

it was a tactical blunder. however, at that point, I don't think he was seen as being "proven" on int'l circuit since he was new

cabal of haters of pant led by Gavaskar, Deep dasgupta, akash chopra

They are used to seeing "regular" Indian players so anyone who plays a different type of game/approach gets hate ... One of the reasons, I like to support cricketers with non-regular approach/outlook to cricket

Dont remember any other cricketer who was under this much criticism, media scrutiny

He has faught his way somehow

He's is under Dhoni's shadow and remain forever,he has to make peace with it

yes, a real pity since he has already done more in tests overseas than dhoni as a batter. of course, MSD for now is far ahead as an ODI bat.

Didn't like Dhoni either post his odi captaincy debut

Too much emphasis on taking it deep farce, Dhoni's batting legacy has much to do with the presence of Yuvi,Raina and later(a rising) Kohli there

no doubt his finishing ability waned and the tendency to take it deep got frustrating, but peak Dhoni has a strong claim to be among top 5 ODI batters of all time.

For the record, now has a 100 in ODIs as well - 125* in Eng (IIRC, his first test 100 was against Eng in Eng too. And that was the final test as well. His ODI 100 came in the final game of the series as well)
