pant wud be dropped he was already dropped

Then, only Manish Pandey is the other option who will be played instead of a bowler. So, it will be Manish vs a bowler for number 6/7 position along with Hardik Pandya. Either way, one department will be weaker than other.

now it is the turn of Agarwal to get such unfair treatment from the TM.  Just 3 ODIs and he is dropped...

relieved that at least Shaw retains his place in ODI format too

Agarwal was picked because dhawan was injured. Dhawan comes back so Agarwal has to make way.

They should look to to play Hardik at 6 & as a 6th bowling option With Rahul & Iyer going strong in middle order.  Jadeja at 7 & Bhuvi at 8  Saini at 9 r decent lower order bats.  Kuldeep if plays can hold the bat & rotate strike being a LHB as we saw in crunch Asia Cup final or Dharmsala ODI vs SL with Dhoni on a seaming track.  Overall This should be lineup

Shaw

Dhawan

Kohli

Iyer

Rahul (wk)

Hardik

Jaddu

Bhuvi

Saini

Kuldeep (coz SA players don't pick him)

Bumrah

Dhawan is over 34 and not going to get better  moving forward.  It was perfect time to provide  Mayank an extended run . But, can't expect such sensible matters from this TM.

Would like to see Pant and Gill getting a game rather than just warming the benches,if you are not going to play them at home then don't thrown them at the deep  end overseas and expect miracles.

Pant won't be playing any match in this series. He will rust away on the bench. The TM is picking him so that he doesn't get away and have any early preparation for the IPL, where he will subsequently fail going by his current state and then Thala will be welcomed for the T20 wc.

Agarwal is almost 30 too. We need to give chances to younger players. It's not as if Aggarwal has set the stage on fire
