Nikola Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) 1. 1999 Worldcup (Aus vs SA, Semifinal) This performance came when his team was in huge trouble and SA got good start. Warne was dropped from test side just couple of months ago and his confidence was totally shattered but great players do make comeback and he did in worldcup specially in semi final & finals. Most people will agree that Australia's dominance in world cricket started after this match. You can see how pumped up he was in this match. He made worldcup final pretty much one sided with another four-fer. He picked up 4 big wickets in this match, here are 3 of them (last wicket was of kallis which is not included). You guys can post your favorite bowling performance of warne below. Edited April 15, 2020 by Nikola
Nikola Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Warne sets up batsman with fake flippers and then bowls the actual flipper. Bonus: Great analysis by richie benaud.

They weren't fake flippers. First was a flipper went down leg, second was a leg spin dragged short, third was full quicker one, batsman played from the backfoot. Nikola 1

As you can hear richie say that's the one which warne shows them and then bowl the actual one.

Bowl a couple of easy short pitch balls and then when the batsmen got a little too comfortable, unleash a deadly bouncer. Warne may have bowled deliberate poor flippers or it might have slipped from his hand or whatever but the fact that he continued bowling flippers to get his wicket means he was playing mind games with the batsmen and outsmarted him there. I am sure he didn’t see a 4th one coming. Edited April 15, 2020 by maniac Vk1, Nikola and Skipper 3

Warne just used to bowl more like straight deliveries as variation because he could turn the ball big so his straight deliveries were really dangerous.

For lefties it was wide outside off and bringing it into the stumps. This should be the default for any leggie. You just bowl this and let the batsmen make mistakes.Any leg spinne's job is to make use of these angles and make run scoring difficult. I was talking the same in the 1st test between england and pakistan. Any leggie who is not bowling these lines is a bonafide idiot. Yasir was pitching almost every ball on the 4th and 5th line and turning it away allowing batsmen to easily drive him or pull back and cut him. Moronic bowling,IMO. Chahal used tobe better at this nowadays he's doing the same mistake. Bowling the same stupid line as mentioned above. Leggies depending on wrong uns to get wickets is a shame. It's like you have no confidence on your own skill.
Stan AF Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 The only good thing that kuldeep did in the last wc. A left handed leg spinner pitching outside off to a right handed batsman and bringing the ball in to hit the stumps. You do this ball after ball you'll get wickets.

Hitting stumps should always be a leggie's #1 priority.

Vk1 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Probably the most intelligent top class player to play the game. Absolute genius. Stan AF 1

Deleted_User_1 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 say what you will, but Warne is one the best spinners of all time. I have never seen someone turn the ball so much. Although the fact that he could not dominate in India does stain his reputation a bit. But no great has had success everywhere. Everyone had a chink in their armor.
