Suhaan Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 I rather found Mavi running in well today, good loading and locking of action only disappointment i had tofay he was straying down leg like Umesh, juat looked getting into his old rythm, but down leg line caused him runs Ipl or any t20 is not the place to find rythm ,
Vickydev Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Nagarkoti spell was brilliant in hindsight now. Broke the partnership, didnt give cheap runs away and kept the pressure on by attacking the stumps. No bul$##t slower ones Mosher and express bowling 2
Suhaan Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 @express bowling bro Mavi doesn't look 24 at all maybe 21-22 not more than that express bowling 1
prudent_kreeda Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Kamlesh has better control and better yorker ability than Mavi . He would be a better fit for T20 .Anyway we need to calm down . These fellows are 140 ish now which is quite good post recent Injury . No point bowling 145 + and with no control. Ultimate aim of teams is to win matches , IPL is not a fastest ball contest . Let us ask ourselves what we were fearing when Kamlesh was out of action for 2 years . Hoping that he can bowl again and come back to previous levels . Seem to be progressing well . I think today's 3rd over was the best by him or Mavi so far in this IPL. Why we are not discounting the fact - that they might have been told to bowl accurately rather than be spray guns . - The plan may be not to overload and get injured again and go out of action again. - Could be their ability now to bowl around 138-142 post injury as this is their first outing . I will be very happy if they bowl consistently hard length balls at that pace but make it move in , go away slightly, bowl yorkers with accuracy , -Even today Mavi could have tried to bowl good length in dipping balls starting from just around off stump to Watto with a few balls going straight or moving slightly away from back off length . He did bowl few but in between he strayed down and also pitched it short . These players are bowling to very good players with experience who punish you for even small mistake .

I think almost everyone on this forum is happy with Nagarkoti's approach and progress. He is bowling 138 k to 145 k and that is brilliant for a 20 year old comeback kid. I don't want him to bowl 150 k this year and break down. He is running in well and bowling reasonably well too. Today he hit those hard lengths and hurried the batters. Took wickets and was economical too. The only issue I have is that he is not using the bouncers at all. Varying lengths of deliveries is the key to making things not too predictable for batters. Mavi's case is a bit different. His pace of 134 k to 142 k is not a big issue per se for a guy coming back from injury. But he has not bowled with the same intensity as Nagarkoti. Something is missing. A come back guy can be down on pace but there is no reason to be down on focus, intensity and accuracy. express bowling Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Among uncapped quicks, if there is one Indian fast bowler that I want to see play and succeed, it is Prasidh Krishna. This is because he has got everything a fast bowler needs. Genuine pace of 140 k to 150 k Very tall ... must be around 6'4" Hits the deck hard and gets bounce Has a good outswinger Can seam the ball both ways Can bowl a good line and length Has a decent yorker and bouncer And he is 24, which is the ideal age to start bowling really quick. https://www.hotstar.com/in/sports/cricket/karnataka-premier-league-2019/final-tuskers-vs-tigers/1440001931 Look at the video above of Prasidh bowling in the KPL final in August 2019. Watch from 34 minutes onwards to see Prasidh in his opening spell. He is bowling 140 k to 145 k all the time. Commentators are saying that he has bowled 145 k+ consistently in the tournament. And he is getting consistent movement and bounce while bowling in good areas. Plus he takes a spectacular catch. When wIll Prasidh get to play for KKR ?? Hope he replaces Mavi in their next game. Only remember one great death bowling spell in 2018 . Post that things have not gone well . Last match was the one for Ind A VS AUS A where AUS openers Darcy Short i think really slammed him. That unsettled him , Post that mostly injuries . Agree we need a tall fast bowler for our ODI , Hope he hits form soon.

Starc does seem to still run in hard with decent size fast bowler run up and then put bowl hard, but Archer is on a different level, doesn't even seem like is going to bowl 85 and ends up bowling 90+ easily.

That cannot be held against him. And T20 is a format where experience is the key. Unless you play, you will never get better. But the main thing is to promote those talents who can be all-condition players as well as multi-format players. And Prasidh has that potential.
