No hindi film dubbed in Telugu, tamil, malyalam, kannada combined can do even half of that. But these days theatrical isn't the only thing. Like war 2 had made 325 cr even before it's release. So producer probably didn't lose money though it's not the case with every big budget film. Hindi belt still has lot of potential. They aren't even utilizing 25% of it. The economic growth in north india will increase the market for bollywood also. But the danger is the regional industries of Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali, Odia and Gujarati can develop and eat into bollywood market.

In Chennai really reall popular well knowns Hindi movies have run well. Sholay is still the best ever i think. Ran for 1 year. DDLJ 6 or 7 months. Chennai express was okayish. Hum Apke hai koun. Dangal did well. War did okay. There are certain movies people watch just beacuse they feel "they have to watch" rather than it is good. I do that all the time at home. Sometimes i watch some crappy movies knowingly it is crappy. Jawan, Indian 2 are a couple of examples. Mariyam 1

The highest collection hindi dubbed film in south India combined is jawan which did 73 cr while highest earning South dubbed film in Hindi belt is Pushpa 2 which did 730 cr plus, 10 times the collection from South. No hindi dubbed film before jawan had even done 25 cr in whole of the South.

SI movies did the right thing by dubbing the movies in Hindi and sold the satellite TV rights at throwaway prices which got the North Indian audience familiar with our actors. Bollywood makes zero efforts to profit from the SI market but makes all kinds of efforts to reach the P@ki audience all for a pocket change. I don't even see English subtitles for most of the Bollywood movie trailers on YouTube. But bollywood is doing that. They do dub movies in the local language. War 2 is released in Telugu and Tamil. In fact, Vamsi bought Telugu rights for 80 cr just because of Jr. NTR and film has barely done 50 cr net in whole of South Tamil plus Telugu combined. Edited August 24, 2025 by rkt.india

All the major Bollywood production houses should move out of their comfort zone and dub their movies in all regional languages. Hollywood does this on a global scale. So Bollywood which boasts about being the national cinema and the one with the biggest market should be willing to take this bet. Compared to the astronomical sums paid to the actors it costs virtually very little to dub their movies in other languages. Bollywood like other institutions and corporations in India seem to have a low risk appetite and are happy where they are because of the huge population numbers.

kepler37b Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 (edited) My feeling when seeing this sequence in Theater ... Jai baalayya. The legend, the phenomenon. Vijay is remaking this movie. Over the top, illogical, loud movies are quite entertaining. Just that the multiplex going jantaa want a Fenyman's lecture in a movie instead of entertainment. vvvslaxman Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 I rewatch a lot of old action movies in 4k some with atmos effect. Totally a different experience.
vvvslaxman Posted August 27, 2025 Posted August 27, 2025 God has approved :) Actually it is quiet a decent movie. Mariyam 1
kepler37b Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 Vijay has great screen presence for a action star. His performance is good. The producer for 2 part story messed the ending. The latter parts of the movie stretched to accommodate the second half. Producer ni tannandi raaa..

The rampant growth of Bollywood will keep people glued to the theatres and oppose economic growth. One of the reasons why North India is underdeveloped. Economic growth will give people disposable income and they will go to the movies, thereby creating conditions opposing the cause of the said growth.
