India is likely to bounce back with an impressive 8.8 per cent growth rate in 2021, thus regaining the position of the fastest growing emerging economy, surpassing China's projected growth rate of 8.2 per cent, the IMF said.

In the same IMF report India's GDP was estimated to grow at 8.8 per cent in 2021, compared to Bangladesh's 4.4 per cent

Unique situation cos of corona, lockdown, Galwan/China, things will return to normalcy next year. Also explain to that jaahil Rahul Gandhi about GDP (PPP) and where the 2 countries stand. Bangladesh's GDP is misleading as well (enough credible sources), also they lack manufacturing sector, reliant on low-tech/agri products exports and remittances. One big advantage is that they don't have military expenses, we on the other hand....

Economy will not grow at 8.8%. From -10.3% to +8.8% within a year?! Is this some joke? IMF smoking pot **** or they are being fed bullshit data by the current establishment to save face.

when things recover from covid  then it will ..

growth rate is computed by comparing it with the previous year and our gdp got hit badly because of lockdowns

Explained: The comparison between India, Bangladesh per capita GDP

Quote

Has this ever happened earlier?

Yes. In 1991, when India was undergoing a severe crisis and grew by just above 1%, Bangladesh’s per capita GDP surged ahead of India’s. Since then, India again took the lead.

Is India expected to regain the lead again?

Yes. The IMF’s projections show that India is likely to grow faster next year and in all likelihood again surge ahead. But, given Bangladesh’s lower population growth and faster economic growth, India and Bangladesh are likely to be neck and neck for the foreseeable future in terms of per capita income
