Steve Smith in his last six matches:

3 runs vs Delhi Capitals
5 runs vs SunRisers Hyderabad
24 runs vs Delhi Capitals (In Sharjah)
6 runs vs Mumbai Indians
5 runs vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
3 v runs vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Should Rajasthan Royals drop him and make Jos Buttler captain for the upcoming matches?

The captain is as good as a team. However, the captain also selects the team. During IPL auction and playing 11, i guess Smith  would has lot of say in team selection and combinations being a captain and a experienced international captain across formats. Accountability has to be there.  What RR can do is give him this whole season. If team manages to put on a decent dshow by fighting back, then thats fine. Else do a Kane Williamson to him. Pick a better T20i cricketer like Buttler (Like SRH opted for warner over Dhawan or Williamson) and Smith can therefore be dropped from playing 11 in some matches in next edition depending on his form.

RR needs some reliable Indian batsmen. Currently they have no reliable Indian T20i batsman, everyone has been taken up by other franchisees. Last year Buttler's form managed to atleast give them good starts. This time Buttler has failed and it has exposed the weakness of other more than it did last year. A good Indian core is misisng in the team. Even Buttler will struggle. As such, an attempt should be made by RR to do good at the auction with regards to Indian players as well, however there is no Indian batsman or quality Indian bowler balance in the auction pool who are experienced and proven performers . Dravid and other management needs to take strategical  blame too. They did all the nautanki of buying cheap players and on rare performances boasting that RR invested in quality, that he was such a baragin buy and what not. You can get the odd rare performances from inexperienced and unproven players but they should not be the core of the team.  And if you are going to form the core of team with inexperienced young Indian players then be ready fro failure and wait for couple more years for IPL trophy until these core gets experience and quality performers. There is also a catch to that. After few years we do not know whether Buttler or Archer will be there with RR or not or whether the management wil blunder in other auction. Tough times ahead, no matter who the captain is.

tbh something happened to smith, he looked impatient in england t20 series too, played an unnecessary slog in an easy chase and lost the first t20. And then got hit in the head in the nets by a training staff and didn't play odi series. Maybe the downhill has started or maybe he is just trolling us like gollum said

Just curious to know how that would be better.

Its what a batsman enjoys

Rohit worked at top for a reason

Their is a reason kohli, ponting enjoys 3 more then 4.

At 3 u get PP most days , its difff to come in at 1 down then 2 . Better chance to control game. He likes pace on ball early..new ball that comes better

U give ur best players their fav positions.

RR needs a bit of stability around riyan parag n tewatia which is why they kept uthappa but he isnt working so better use smith n let him make others bat around.

Fair enough. For someone who likes to play in air using the power shots, field restrictions can be rule can be well used by such batsmen. Rather than Jaiswal it is better to give power play to Samson.

Its the case every yr

Samson position is changed by RR, yes he is inconsistent but still a match winner u need to backup coz the day he works he ll runaway with the game. In last 2 games he has looked good but not in his position , who knws he may have pulled it had he been at 3 coz mindset is diff . Even smith likes 3 but samson is a match winner.

Teams like kxip , rr need to learn from MI n csk how they back players n keep consistency
