All Rounders Do Not Exist Part - II

I could not find my old thread and with slight time on hand and this being weekend I decided to drive the point home.

I was told Ben Stokes is an all rounder. After IPL is he still an all rounder?

Don't get me started on Hardik Pandya. How any overs did he bowl??

Ben Stokes is an underrated test bowler. He is not a good bowler in LO cricket though. But he is certainly a test all-rounder by all standards.

What about Jason Holder? He too is an excellent all-rounder. Then you had guys like Shakib Al Hasan. So, there are good all-rounders in this era.

In 2016, when Pandya was picked, he was young but expected to take his all-round game to new level over next 4-5 years which means being good enough in both the department to be able to win games. However, we are in 2020 and he has underachieved till now. Pandya must produce results over next 4-5 years for all the investments that has been made on him.

Pandya is a failure. Why should he get 5 years?

I think BenStokes is good but IPL shows he is over estimated.

Lol I didn't realize ipl is the golden standard to judge playres abilities. Lets just ignore his 150 test wickets and 70 ODI wickets so that we can all feel better about our lack of quality allrounders

The stats provided by IPL are more  meaningful that Test/ODI stats.

Shakib in CWC 2019:

600+ runs, avg 87, SR 97, 2 100s 5 50s

11 wickets, avg 36, ER 5.39...2nd best bowler from BD behind Fizz, better with ball than specialist spinners like Kuldeep, Chahal, Rashid, Mujeeb, Zampa, Santner....

Definitely not an AR

In a poor team devoid of good bowlers I may get few wkts too.

He was your benchmark. You had his appendage in your mouth for few years.

I mean he should produce continuous results for next 5 years to make up for the investment done on him. He is not a LOI failure by any standards though. He hasn't set the stage alright but then the peak years are 28-32.

No one should be gauranteed 5 years. Even Kohli.

any reason why you believe this? A cricketer plays 2 months per year in IPL, how can his ipl performances be the standard to judge him? Especially when foreign players like stokes may not even play the full season. Maybe you should edit the title to "All rounders do not exist in IPL"
