maniac Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 (edited) Positives India’s mental strength: Bounce back from 2-0 in odi series after a total drubbing in the first 2 games and then go on to win the next game and then the T20 series was amazing. Enough said about the Melbourne miracle already as we are still reeling from the high. The arrival of the 3rd incarnation of his holiness Sri Sri Sri Sir Ravindra Jadeja: the messiah has finally arrived. From a bits and pieces joke to a world class test spinner to now potentially one of the finest allrounders ever, what else can I say? SDP 2.0 : Evolving into the most destructive LOI bats in the world. Natarajan: we have found a tremendous LOI specialist. Potential match winner in T20. Keep him away from other formats. Siraj: Always felt he was that one good performance away to unlock his true talent. Hopefully this is sign of things to come. Gill: we all knew it, now we saw it Ashwin 2.0: Since IPL, seems to have found his mojo back in all formats. This qualifies as so far because 2 more tests to go and his fitness is questionable. Captain Chill: 2 words Rahane #Respect Bowling/Bowling coach : well done sir Arun Negatives: India’s LOI top order : Same old heavy dependency on top 3, no alternative to Rohit- Kohli, 4-5 still an issue, no good enough back ups. One dimensional players- Lack of balance with the bat and ball: Once Hardik can start bowling this will solve most of the problem. Anyways our bowlers can’t bat and batsmen can’t bowl. Too one dimensional Shaw: whatta let down. Forget batting but his fitness and fielding . This guy looked like a potential slip catching great, great leadership skills, next sachin-sehwag-Lara (as our great coach said) but look at him now . Hope he bounces back. Even now if he gets a lucky chance and somehow scores a 300 ( I will bet a $100 bucks against anyone, won’t happen) still a lot of work has to be done on him for a very long time. Fielding: Sridhar seems like a cool chilled out guy who gets along with everyone but there are such cool dudes everywhere, but they don’t get a $million being one. Mismanagement and cheerleading support staff: The whole Rohit-Kohli fiasco, the coach pushing players up front during humiliation but taking credit for wins, disgusting. Also we saw with our own eyes, difference between a scenario where 1-2 dictators rule vs a more democratic environment. Batting approach (LOI’s and Tests): a Couple of decades behind in all formats. Hopefully this will change. 36 Allout: This one will haunt forever Batting coach: glaring technical flaws in a lot of batsmen. Useless batting coach. Neutral Vihari: at some point, he showed some resistance, well tried, everyone failed but he is a young guy excuses will run out and it is almost there. Samson: Again what’s the tolerance here, at what point will 1-2 tailunted 6’s per match translate into a meaningful innings? Saini: exciting to watch at times, wayward but has this killer attitude. Can be expensive but can rattle batsmen too. Edited December 29, 2020 by maniac Mosher, Norman, tweaker and 3 others 3 3
Cricketics Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Positive - Shubman Gill. Since his u19 days he has looked good but now facing Cummins and Starc with ease in their den when they are bowling terrific spells. This guy is special. Best young player in last 12 years. Negatives? None. Seriously negatives are when players are struggling regularly in the Indian team. i look through our test squad and all are pretty good players. Those who have failed thus far. they haven't been given enough opportunities to be judged. Guys like Shaw have been made memes o of but they possess great talent and just require more hard work. I hope guys like him go back and fix their issues. He is still very young and has great future ahead hopefully. Thankful for: Bumrah. I guess no one needs to know the reason but for the records he has the best bowling figures in all of our major overseas win recently. Those wins include - 2018 Johannesburg win - Best bowler Bumrah 2018 Trent Bridge win -Best Bowler Bumrah 2018 Adelaide win- Best Bowler Bumrah 2018 MCG test win - Best Bowler Bumrah 2020 MCG test win - Best Bowler Bumrah SENA conquerer = Bumrah I wasn't born to see Kapil Dev and co in 80s in his prime. I watched a lot of cricket in mid to late 90s to Zaheer Khan's era and till date. No one has been this good. No one. Bumrah needs to be wrapped in cotton wool. He is our greatest. We have to be thankful to this legend already. diga, Laaloo, sorak and 5 others 4 4
