R!TTER Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 To me he is the original (little) Master - without him we'd have no SRT, Dravid, VVS, Sehwag etc. vijaydude, Forward Defence, AuxiliA and 2 others 1 4

Calls for a little respect. I recommend everybody to run a statsguru analysis on him if they haven't already, Very satisfying.

R!TTER Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 He's retired, I doubt IPL stats matter so much.

jf1gp_1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Who hates Sunny ? We only hate occupant of Indian captaincy. 3-4 yrs from now the most loved player on this very forum will be Dhoni.

Why wouldn't we have SRT ,DravidVVS ,Sehwag etc? Did he raise them or train them ? Why does he get the credit for the hardwork done by these guys. It is one thing to say he was and inspiration ....but to say they would not be what they were if not for him is BS . As for hate..... People don't like his obsession with centuries and records. His biased support of mumbai players. Sometimes he rants like a cranky old man. Edited March 6, 2021 by beetle Indwin, Vijy and Mariyam 1 2
Ajju Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 He is not Dhoni to have love, Fanism soft corner from everyone.

You must've missed literally hundreds of posts in the match threads calling him names, of course I can name names here but don't wanna spoil the thread with needless back & forth. SMG has a keen eye, & even though you may not like his opinion once in a while, he's rarely wrong wholesale like some posters make it sound. As for bias - everyone's biased - I hate Kohli (mainly his captaincy) Ishant, Dhongi etc. Some of the posts calling him names not only show what the posters are but really how keen their eye is - FFS the guy's done it in the middle when we were proper minnows & you're throwing shade at him? 5 minutes ago, beetle said: Did he raise them or train them ? Without Sunny we wouldn't win the series in WI, Eng away or you're now claiming any tom, dick'n harry could do what he did? Without him & Kapil we don't win the 83 WC - needless to say you're probably making up a billion other scenarios under which the likes of SRT, Dravid, VVS, Sehwag take up professional cricket as a serios sport to earn wages! Without Sunny, or Kapil, cricket would not have the money or sponsors it did for these guys even considering it as a serious profession. Nothing happens in a vacuum & if you think he was just an "inspiration" then you clearly don't know how sports works! Without SRT there'd be no Sehwag or Virat either! 9 minutes ago, beetle said: As for hate..... People don't like his obsession with centuries and records. His biased support of mumbai players. And people rant here incessantly despite being cranky or old vijaydude and Indwin 1 1

Inspiration is one aspect only . If not for him , they would be inspired by someone else. Pant was inspired by Gilcrist, not Dhoni . Many of our present day bowlers are inspired by greats other than Kapil Dev. Inspiration is just serious fanboyism . What gets you there is hardwork, dedication and individual talent .This makes great players ...not inspiration . If that was the case....his son would have been far more successful . This is the problem with our culture. Giving credit for someone's hardwork to someone else . Kid tops exams....all because of parents. Some one gets nobel prize in America...because he is Indian . People achieve what they do because of their hardwork and dedication ....not because they are inspired by someone else. If that was the case...all kids in India would be Tendulkars .
