Aur ye anchor anchor kya hai - Look at WI and ENG lineup...kaha hai anchor...kidhar hai anchor ??? they can play shai hope n root but they dont

Rohit n Kohli are enough and i also wont classify them fully as anchor as both are close to 140 s.r. Rohit has that extra gear which very few in world has and Kohli can be brilliant in last few overs which is why he was one man army in last 3 t20 wcs. Even a kohli at decline is better then many

DEAR IGNORAMUSES,

Anchor = NOT.  pinch hitter.

Out of 9 batters if 5 are outright hitters and other 4 are little bit sturdy, the world is not going to fall.

The 'anchors' can switch gears and go hitting all out once we are fairly sure that the par score will be achieved.

How difficult is it to understand this ??

Since Shreyas return to Indian team in T20s in 2019, he also has a strike rate of 139. So, I would say it is not as bad as some posters try to make. He will probably not be part of T20 team but is still a good option to have as reserves.

On a given day, at 25-3, the chances of a player like him performing is very high. India's challenge would be to see how their batting clicks once they lose toss and have to setup the totals.

Kohli surely was the man of the tournament in last T20s but the game has advanced since then. Also if you delve deep into those performances, apart from semi final in 2014 & knock against Aus in 2016, he relished chasing below par targets. He is a genius chaser in ODIs and plans those chases meticulously but T20 chase mantra has reached another level. You have to try n kill the game as early as possible. Similarly is the approach while setting a target. The demands have changed & if you indulge in these 50 plus scores without any impact, opposition is not too much worried about it.

Both Rohit & Virat cannot be anchors. If Virat has decided he wants to deal in single-doubles then Rohit has to be more proactive..

Tewatia - esp.  if he has a good IPL. Big hitter with clutch qualities. Will bowl leg spin too

Tewatia over Jadeja, seriously? Do you really think he's a better allrounder than Jadeja?

Also

Aggresive players doesnt mean pinch hitters

5 hitter+ 4 strudy....itni batting sirf 120 ball ke liye :giggle:

More then the game i think its his own decline and captaincy burden. Hi approach will work once he has aggresors all around .

In RCB it doesnt work coz it only has AB and in Indian team prior he had no one....even rohit was a no show in last 3 t20 Wcs.

Let’s not mix formats. Twetaia is evolving as a batsman and probably will command a higher price at IPL

Those who don’t understand the game talk like that.

itni batting hone ke bawajood haaaat dekh le. Mar mar ke runs score ho rahe hain.

there is a lack of a plan....

samjhao mujhe itni battting wala logic n our problem ??? Anyone wud know our proble, has been these anchor type players eating so many balls that has hardly left anything for players like pandya

Explain how any team can win with avg bowling ???

samjhao mujhe ?

Samjhao whats the point of scoring so many when u dnt have the bowling to defend it ? RCB has tried this crap theory for years and fallen flat on its face

That's future tense and certainly doesn't mean that we should slot him right into the WC playing XI.

Also, Jadeja is a vaslty improved white ball batsmen and still good as a 5th bowler, especially in India. Not to forget his exceptional fielding and knack of scoring runs when the team is in crisis.

Twetaia is a better batsman more suitable for #7 role in T20s than Jadeja, who is a better bowler esp. in certain conditions. However, at #7, Twetia will be the 5th bowler sharing his overs with the 6th bowler (SDP) so bowling like 2 overs (unless conditions or situations are such that he can bowl more)

Tewatia being a 'batting' AR doesn't make him a better batsman than Jadeja the 'bowling' AR. For whatever it's worth, Jadeja has superior domestic batting record and obviously far greater International experience.

Also, I will trust Jadeja more to bowl those 2 overs than Tewatia in a WC match. And his fielding would be an asset in T20s.

Tewatia IS  the better batsman in T20s esp. if you want to win games. Has clutch qualities as well to compliment the batting line up. At the end of the day, the player in better form should get the nod, which is why I also mentioned monitoring performances - tangibles and intangibles, in IPL

Bro if we are talking about form, in what world do you think that Jadeja is any less than Tewatia. Tewatia as of now is just an one IPL wonder.

Jadeja has been putting in clutch performances in high stake matches with the bat in all formats for the last 2 years. He was excellent in IPL 2020 and Aus t20 series too.

Jadeja is good but Tewatia can be better (without mixing formats) ... In most T20 line ups, Tewatia, even if he makes his debut, would be slotted above Jadeja in the batting order ... Similarly, there are guys like Nitesh Rana (can bowl off spin), Samad (can bowl leg spin), etc., who if they come in would be slotted above Jadeja in the batting order

Man looks like you rate Tewatia very highly and rate Jadeja too low. No problem in that.

But one thing, Tewatia bats higher in domestic matches whereas Jadeja bats lower in Internationals. Both are not same. Jadeja has 3 domestic triple tons (FC avg> 47). Had he been playing with the likes of Tewatia, Rana, Samad, etc in domestics he would be Garry Sobers among them.

Again, let’s not mix formats
