Yes he gets shape, but even now bowls few of them onto the pads

His best bet is new ball, so he is going for the glory ball. In his case it is the booming outswinger. If he gets it right he can run through line ups in T20. That’s however a big if.

Like Srinath most of our good pacers get better with age when they don’t lose pace and improve skills. I think both Ummi and Shami have gas left in the tank for one more big tournament may be not Wt20.

Why spend money on Southee  apne yahaan trundler factory production kam hai kya?

yes at his age a better fielder and can bat than most of our trundlers but still an overseas slot.

Rana just another young Indian bowler with pace, there are lots more who don't consistently play for their respective domestic teams, if ipl can take scouting to another level then then am pretty each team could have two out and out quick bowlers, Indian young pacers outshine Indian batsmen now imo. Minad manjrekar from Mumbai is rapid, harishankar Reddy is quite skiddy, Vijay Kumar etc many more.

Guys like Umesh and Shami also started off as guys with only one dimensional pace but as they added skills without compromising on fitness and pace they got better and better. To some extent Ishant as well even though he messed it up for a few years in the middle.

We have had a good structure at least with Bharat Arun etc where they worked on bowlers skills without affecting their pace.

Lot of resources now. How they evolve in their skills need to be seen. By skills I don’t mean just knuckle/ slower balls or Yorkers but their swing, seam position, bowling acumen etc. that’s where a lot of our bowlers used to lose it in the past even when they had pace.

Umran stands out due to the extra yards.

Rest all need some 2nd line or defense to complement their pace.

that’s my take.

Lost a bit of steam, some were not shown

Fastest i saw was 141+

I think he will bowl faster as he plays more. KKR should persist with him.

Ummi is a better fielder and can slog too. Shami bhai can slog and Umran is X factor. Bumrah in reserves. Maybe take one of Harshal/Thakur/Deepak for trundler quota.

Our bowling unit is all set.

That was what I was thinking too. First match nerves, he will pick up pace and aggression with more and more matches he plays.

Bumrah should start using short stuff more & more...  Otherwise he won't ever become a wicket taking bowler in LOIs.  I don't know why he has cut down bouncers & short deliveries at shoulder height in tests & LOIs.

Umran is utilizing both his short balls & fuller length balls very well.

Bumrah is also a 90mph bowler & should start acting like one now.  Bring back the aggression.
