vice Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 I think equating bowling fast to just being 'stong' or raw strength isn't the way to look. Raw strength is bench pressing or lifting 100's of kilos weight. Pace bowling requires a few different or combination of characteristics. If you go into the nitty gritty, bowling is a very technical task. You're dealing with multiple moving parts i.e levers, flex, and motion. Plug into a computer model to optimize for speed, height, etc. There are certain bowling actions, loading, wrist release, follow through that are optimal for speed. It's not entirely about raw strength, there's technique as well. i.e you're looking for cheetahs not elephants or Giraffes to bowl the fastest but with optimal bowling actions. Cheetahs can only be used in short bursts before they need to cool. The faster you go, the quicker you burn. There are a few nuances wrt to technique i.e A tall person who collapses at the point of release will nullify the height advantage i.e height of release point matters more than just height. Flex in the bowling action will give you the extra 'sling' motion which increases speed. Wrist cocking will further add to the motion, etc. Coaching the optimal bowling technique at a young age is important . Otherwise, you're build very strong muscle memory which can be difficult to alter. Investing in coaches and infrastructure is the best way to unearth raw talent and nurture them along the way. Texan Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Watching MI-CSK highlights and a friendly innocuous ball from Theekshana was recorded at 152.0 kph (over 13.4). How is that possible? Something seriously wrong with speed gun. Chakdephatte 1

Btw bench press doesn't mean **** lol. Farmers walks, moving atlas stones, sled push/pulls are a better indicator of true raw strength. Bench is for body building clowns who get destroyed on the regular in the mma gyms. I see that happen almost every week when I used to train. Edited May 7, 2023 by Jay

vishalvirsingh Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 i see flat patta tracks in this IPL. option 1 -is this the reason(patta pitches) as to why our fast bowler UMraan is failing OR option 2- is it that He has lost his line n length and is just trying to bowl fast with no control. is it the option 1 or 2. line n length n control is a MUST and can be trained , i have seen bowlers improving by bowling a particular line again and again and again. so I am not sure why is umraan not able to get the control that he wants.

Mosher Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Who would want to be a fast bowler in India? Better to be an "accurate" trundler and just roll their arm and bowl a few cutters. MK55, express bowling and singhvivek141 3
