Shami did really well in the IPL, but flopped in the T20 World Cup just after.

 

I guess LOIs are a diffetent kettle of fish 

 

P..S -- Umesh is still bowling a lot of loose deliveries but have not been punished so far.

if u wanna judge someone improvement see the areas where he was weak before, umesh was always good in PP. I think from 2018 his numbers in PP are as good as Deepak chahar

But his problem always lied in Mid n mostly death phase. Currently these wkts are offering so much that KKR are destroying opp in opening overs with yadav n soouthee exponent of swing and then Narine-Varun-russell keep the pressure in mid phase. 

 

With Prasidh, Shami, Umesh what shud be seen is how they bowl when wkts turn flat and how they bowl in pressure situation.

what's going wrong (Read as "right") with Umesh.  he is picking up wickets at will.

 

I did my due diligence and came to know that it seems on Green tracks ( grass is visible) , he is able to get good bounce and some swing at a fastish pace ( 137 to 140K) which is becoming too difficult to face even for good batsman. Virat got out to him. he has picked up wickets when batsman were even playing defensively to him.

 

Conclusion- Umesh seems to have figured out as to how to bowl with a new ball on green tracks  so He may be a big asset in SENA countries. he was regularly getting more swing than southee.

Umesh has in him to increase his pace to 142 to 145K when ever he wishes too and if he can get full control over his swing ( with the new ball), He could be an asset for Tests and even in ODI in SENA countries. In India ( Tests), he always bowls well.

 

For T20, he will always be a run giving bowler as that is his natural trait so if i am a selector , I wont pick him for INDIA T20 Team even if he does very well in this IPL( get purple cap). I am pretty much convinced that he is made for Tests and can be considered for ODI but on Green tracks only.

 

But Yes Touch wood , Umesh is improving and that makes me happy.

What's wrong with SIRAJ??

 

Siraj knows that He was appreciated by one and all in Australia as He came running with full energy and bowled at 144K on 3rd to 5th stump. 

 

But in T20, He is trying a lot...too many slow balls, too many half pitched balls and what not?

 

He is no Harshal or Unadkat , who have different Skills. DONOT COPY THEM. Bowl to your strength. when you have a 145K ball rising high on 4th stump , bowl that mostly.

he needs to know what he is supposed to do in T20. Umesh has figured that out now, he has a plan to take wickets and he is bowling one line , length and with the new ball , he may fetch a lot of wickets in this IPL.

Siraj is faster than Umesh ( though siraj does not swing the ball much). Siraj has to go back to his best balls and try to bowl those balls only, he should try variations , one ball in an over. 

Harshal probably has more skills ( for T20) , Siraj does not need to copy him. Harshal's secrets are coming out and batsman are waiting and are hitting him at will now.

Agree that lasith is coaching well but none of the pacers seem to be trying to bowl at their full pace, it seems they are running and bowling medium to slow pace.

 

Good batsman need to be Pushed back by genuine pace and I am an opening bat so I can tell you , length is good but if we know that he is a slow trundler, we walk two steps ahead and pick up the ball on our bat from where ever we want to OR go deep in crease and play our Shots.

 

Line n length is definitely important but all good batsman know how to break that Line n Length by standing one step out of the crease or deep inside the crease. 

even the best batsman have no clue to genuine pace ( if the bowler gets the line n length right at that sheer pace). 

Umran Mallik , akashdeep , Umesh Yadav seem to be bowling well in this IPL.

 

mukesh chowdhary was left arm , i just saw one over so cant say much.

Bounce at 135-140 is much much harder to face than express pace with no bounce at 145-150. 

You need bounce based players. Steep bounce or balls that rise on good lengths. Very difficult to play such bowlers if their pace even hits 135 plus. Very very difficult. I have played at high grade level in cricket. Believe me, I have seen so many nasty injuries not against bowlers who bowl really fast. It's more to do with bowlers who generate bounce at decent pace. 

The fastest guy in the tournament we played in clocked 139 140. 

 

Yet the hardest to face was the one bowling 130-135 but generated good bounce.

Siraj is struggling with the new ball which used to be one of his strengths.  His new ball record in last 10 IPl games is very average. Seems lost without Bharat Arun these days.  Too many scrambled seam deliveries.  Trying too much.  He has to return back to his basics.

Thampi probably bowled the worst over of the season. Or maybe after Mavi's. Why so many yorkers in 4th over when he isn't landing them.
