About ashiwn vs lefties , well ashwin has dismissed even kane n taylor 5-5 times each . At his home but this isnt even Those 2 guys home as well. Ashwin has played enough county and duke is still better the kookabura. Lets not forget he  went after smith n marnus in australia...so not just the left handers

Thakur should replace Ashwin.

 

Reasons-

Weather will remain like this all the while..he wont get much from the pitch. As a new ball spinner he gives away runs..leaks runs.

Jaddu is in such a form that if he scores a 100 ..I wont be surprised. You can play him just as a batsman fielder.

 

2 spinners n just 3 pacers dont make sense ..i think New Zealand will play only   pacers.

Ideally I would replace Kohli with Thakur or Siraj, but we all know this cannot happen.

 

Kohli is stubborn, he wont change his team.

And jaddu always plays clutch vs top teams especially new Zealand and Australia.

I would take Jaddu over Ashwin. Its irrelevant as India are not going to change their lineup.

It would have been different had the backup batsman been of VVS calibre

We should hv probably gone with Siraj in place of Ishant.    Siraj is a genuine wicket taker in any condition.  Maybe ishant's ability to hang around with the bat gave him the advantage.
