vayuu1
We saw yesterday bumrah struggled in england yes I agree bowlers are expected to be rusty ,but bumrah is a hit the Deck kind of bowler So why play him in conditions that doesn't suit his style of bowling So rotate ur bowler's Sa aus win attack should be bum, shami, Ishant In eng nz replace bum and lambu with siraj and thakur You need bowlers who can bowl fuller in eng nz not back of length, this doesn't mean i disrespect bumrah, but feel these pitches doesn't suit his style of bowling . express bowling
Bumrah was superb on our 2018 tour to England. We should have played Siraj for Shami + Shardul for Ashwin ( bowling all-rounder's slot ) Edited June 21, 2021 by express bowling raki05, Mosher, Suhaan and 2 others 1 4 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Cummins and Halewood, both hit the deck bowlers, were very successful in the last Ashes series as was Archer. Bumrah himself bowled superbly on the 2018 tour without much rewards. Complete lack of swing for him yesterday was the biggest issue, he doesn't get much swing but it's never been as bad as he was y'day. Add to it his struggles for settling into a rhythm. Hopefully the overnight rest does the trick and he'll comeback well whenever the match restarts. Suhaan and BacktoCricaddict 1 1 Link to comment
express bowling
In the 2018 test series in England, Bumrah picked 14 wickets from just 3 tests at an average of 25.9. Bowled superbly ! Just needs to do what he did last time. raki05, Suhaan and Mosher 3 Link to comment

Although not a big swinger of the ball ... really accurate deliveries at 140 k to 145 k, with a bit of seam movement and bounce, is not easy to handle anywhere. But his accuracy is fluctuating a lot these days. And his frequency of heavy balls has reduced too. Wonder whether there is some issue with his wrist whip. Surprised to see not much analysis on this by the commentary panel. I tweeted to Ian Bishop last evening requesting him to technically analyse any changes in Bumrah's bowling technique pre vs post injury. Tweeted the same to CricViz team as well. Let's see if they pick it up today. raki05 and nevada 2 Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
Yes high time it shud be.....cricket is a game of conditions . U can make an above avg bowler into dangerous one by giving him favourable condition. But in Indian cricket it wont work unless they know where to stop. Mayank can play in India in place of any batsman but if he scores 1000 doesnt mean u give him a spot overseas unless his technique has improved massively Taking deepak chahar to ENG n NZ shudnt mean he shud also go to Aus Horses for courses and Matchups are the future, teams with great bench strengths shud make it a habbit which hasnt happened till now but im sure soon it will. Have ur main all condition bowler but do add that icing of 1-2 horses for courses Link to comment

Ishant can be given a rest in India Shami is one who can be looked away from in England Link to comment
Norman
Not just bowling..batting too. We have enough int'l class players to play vastly different XIs for different conditions. But the so called seniority culture prevalent in this parts of the world will never let that happen. raki05 1 Link to comment

Suhaan
Bumrah needs to work on his runup,i had always sooner or later the amount of push and energy which he's compelled to put up during his load up to compensate for the energy lack which could have been achieved through a good runup/a Little longish runup would have reduced the recent async in his bowling Being a hip dominant bowler he should have focused in his runup as he will not stay strong agile like he was 5 years a go Mosher, raki05 and express bowling 3 Link to comment

Lord
On topic, horses for courses in current game would have been Thakur,Chahar,Unadkat (since Bhuvi is injured) You can't plan an attack like that. Need to have all condition bowlers. Link to comment

He will improve but thing is we have to allow someone else to take him over in the meantime, let him get off the tag of India's premier bowler He will get back to his usual self in sidelines, let others take the mettle ie Siraj,Prasidh,Tyagi,Avesh etc BacktoCricaddict and express bowling 2 Link to comment
