How much did lack of 4 seamer hurt India?

JB has to show up in crunch matches for India. Kohli atleast has done in t20 world cup. Bumrah is yet to do anything substantial for India in ICC tournaments.

I think the team selected is good ,it's just that bumrah had a bad outing .

Even umesh yadav in his worse days picks up a couple of wkt here and there

not at all, when 3 out of 10 wkts is taken by spinner and one of ur seamer was ineffective cant ask that .

Bumrah wasn't as ineffective as people are saying here.

 

Today he kept up pressure from his end and made run scoring difficult.  This often results in wickets even if a different bowler picks it.

4 pacers are needed in seam friendly conditions because this allows all the pacers to bowl with full intensity all the time. 

 

There were stages in our bowling innings when our pacers were being overworked as we did not have the 4th pacer and conditions were not favourable to spin bowling.

I would have loved to see Siraj bowl on this wicket but it is so diffcult to drop any seamers who were  selected or Jadeja.

That is a different issue.

 

Captains don't want to bowl spinners in seam friendly conditions. Which is why they bowled only after all the pacers were tired.

Yes agreed but only if that fourth seamer would have batted better than Jadeja or Ashwin. Without that option there is no room for fourth seamer on this team.No captain would risk  with that long tail in this sort of crunch match.

In these conditions 3 pacers + 1 pacer allrounder + 1 spinner allrounder is ideal.

People don't realize how much pressure 217 puts on bowlers. It is a miracle that Indian bowlers dragged this team back into the match.If they score another 120 runs both spinners will come into picture for a miracle win.

I think that is harsh to say that.  He still looks like he is giving great effort.  An ab muscle tear is no joke and his execution may be off a bit.  TM should've considered this and rested him in this important match where you can't have the luxury of having someone search for their rhythm.  Hope he is close to finding it and lets it rip in the 4th.

The only 4th pacer option we had in this squad was Shardul, as he can bat at 8.

3 seamers could have been enough if they had played first class cricket in the recent past or if they were young. All 3 looked tired in second session and the NZ tail took advantage of that.
