Golf enthusiasts, few small doubts.   How many types of golf clubs are there? One for long distance, one for short putting? Do they carry their own golf balls or does the event organizer provide them with designated tournament balls?   Do they play the same 18 holes on all 4 days here, or its it 18x4=72 different holes?   Are PGA/LPGA golf courses much larger than this Olympics course, hence with higher par for every shot? That could explain why Aditi with her stron

Even in cricket they reached finals of both t20 and odi w cup.. Men didnt even manage to do that. They also drew the one off test in england after following on and might have won if there was a day 5 with 180 plus in lead.. some english players as per reports were relieved at the thought of not facing poonam yadav n co on day 5 track..

Pooja Kumar will face Rio Olympics bronze medallist 5 feet 11 inches Li Qian in 75 kg quarters..pooja is 5 feet 8 Inches..lets see.. doesnt look promising ..

Missed the archery events today but checked the scores, too many stinkers even by highly ranked archers. Maybe effects of weather? Was wind a problem? Yesterday there was a typhoon in Tokyo, aftermath of that perhaps.

But there is no progress in medals won over time. 2008 in beijing 2 Rio 2 and this Olympics will be 2. 

 

London an outlier due to diaspora support. 

 

Now if india won 2 in 2008 4 in Rio and 6 to 7 in Tokyo then there was a clear sign of progress. For that to happen shooting needed to step up in a big way. 

 

The only silver lining is diversity in events in which we are winning. This year first weightlighting medal after 20 years is welcome. The north east stepping up is welcome.

 

But with india as one part steps up the other part regresses. 

Agree. But just a slight correction, we won 3 in Beijing. Apart from Bindra's shooting gold, we had 2 bronze medals: wrestling (Sushil Kumar) and boxing (Vijender Singh).

 

Still can match or at least come close to London haul (despite shooters disappointing one and all)....if we manage a gold can rate this one higher. 2 is a pessimistic take, barring a miracle we'll get at least 2 in wrestling itself.

Women's side is pathetic. Supporting Svitolina even though I hate her game, deserves some prize for her consistency. Either her or Bencic for the gold:cheer:.

Hockey is important because we need to finish higher in our group. Right now at #2 behind Australia, if we fall further below, our QF will get tougher. The mistake we made in Rio, drew against minnow Canada and Argentina took our spot while we had to face red hot Belgium in our QF. Arg went on to win gold in that edition.
