Why are Indians so good at badminton but not at tennis? I know they are different sports, but Badminton is supposed to be more physically demanding, there are literally no free points on serve unlike tennis.

We really aren't supposed to have the genetics for either technically.

Is it because of height that prevents Indians from having a good serve in tennis? Or is it because tennis is more competitive and a more deeper playing field than Badminton?

Yeah height makes a huge difference in both sports... while tennis is mainly dominated by Europeans Badminton is dominated by south East Asians... that’s why we Indians tend to do better in badminton

Tennis is a much more expensive sport to play. The courts are expensive to set up.

Also physically way more difficult in Tennis than Badminton where guile and stamina can make up for lack in strength. We need someone like a Gopichand to change tennis for us.

More than that the lack of infrastructure for Tennis, which is very expensive for common man but you see badminton played by every kid

I have seen Sania Mirza out power Williams sister shot for shot. She had some brutal ground strokes. I think women will do well there too. Our men look malnourished in comparison to modern standards. I am not an expert just my layman observation.

Do you know how much shuttle cocks cost LOL. My mum was a state level teen champ in badminton and it was a very expensive sport. Rackets are similar costs, tennis balls are cheaper, nets are similar costs. Logically if you can play badminton you can play tennis too

With Parupali Kashayap On sofa seeing Parineeeti Chopra playing her in Amazon Prime. On a serious note due to covid and cancellation she couldn’t participate in olympic quota tournaments. The ones where she did she was thumped. She is the most luckiest sportsperson in india ever.she won the bronze match when her better opponent who was leading her slipped and injured her knee in court and retired..

Dude, go easy there. Saina is one of the most decorated sportspersons in India. Has struggled since her knee injury in 2016 but she was the pioneer in her sport by winning its first ever medal.
