Indian fast bowling bench strength

This is the fab 5 of Indian bowling

Ishant

Shami

Umesh

Bumrah

Bhuvi

4/5 are 30 and will soon start being on their way down

Siraj is ready to push one of them out but what are the real back up options?

Can anyone tell me who can be our next fab 5?

1.Siraj

2.Bumrah

3.

4.

5.

will leave the list for the experts @express bowling @Suhaan @Mosher @rkt.india @vishaalvirsingh

Its a little concerning . Saini has faltered, Natarajan is a T20 bowler and Chahar seems like a LoI specialist.

Please he as realistic with expectations as possible.

Ideally we use home series to test these days but Kohli will play them only if one of the fab 5 is injured or retired

i think it’s a myth that Kohli created this bowling attack. He just fell into 5 very good fast bowlers at their absolute peak. The very fact that he didn’t give Siraj a debut against weaker teams and it took injuries in Australia when he was away should tell us something.

In fact Bharat Arun is the unsung hero there.

Somehow lacks the oomph that we had just a few years ago with Siraj and Saini knocking on the door, along with Mavi and Nagarkotti as hopefuls.  How about Ishan Porel?

Natarajan did quite well in the one test chance he got; I don't think he should be typecast as a T20 bowler.  He might struggle on home test pitches, but otherwise can be quite useful.

How about Ishan Porel?  And Nagwaswalla - any hopes there?  Can Khaleel come back reinvigorated and reinvented as a test bowler?

Yup.But that's the pecking order they follow with everything.

but he does back them atleast.

With Dhoni,we might have still been seeing Chahar,Unadkat in Test :giggle:

Still have hope for Khaleel. Never rated Porel since junior level. Natarajan doesn’t have the fitness and is already 30. Hopefully Chahar can evolve in the Bhuvi role.

Mavi/Nagarkotti can’t judge them on IPl, but they aren’t doing much outside of it too from what I hear.

Here is my prediction

Bumrah the xfactor that he still is. Same role

Siraj takes over from Ishant as the test spearhead

Deepak Chahar from Bhuvi as the swing bowler who can contribute with the bat

Tyagi the next Umesh, erratic but will run through line ups

Prasidh kind of the consistent 140+ seam bowler who will keep chipping away.

Thakur temporarily in the Deepak Chahar role. Khaleel the left arm option, might bump one of Tyagi/Prasidh once in a while

That looks better but these guys need to be tried fast in tests

Bumrah, Shami and Siraj will carry Indian bowling overseas for next 2-3 years for sure.

Ishant will be finished in max 2 years.

Bhuvi is a white ball specialist now days.

Yadav is a home test bowler at best

Saini fitness is fragile. Don't think he can be trusted.

Thakur is better than Chahar in long format.Chahar sucks even in FC

how good is Avesh in long format? Another guy I saw huffing and puffing in outfield in the IPL after a couple of good overs.

Don’t want to spoil the mood but apart from Tyagi no one have the same excitement factor of Umesh,Aaron,Ishant when they first came on to the scene or Bumrah and even Bhuvi when he was unplayable in swinging conditions.

I mean guys like Munaf,RP,Irfan,Sreeshanth were must watch when they started.

Even with Prasidh etc it’s like ok he is good but that’s about it.

Siraj finally delivered so happy for him.

Maybe then we had a lot of open slots but now we compare them with the already proven fab 5, that’s the problem.

Please remove "Fab"  from " Can anyone tell me who can be our next fab 5? "  simply cos there are no fabs  that too 5 .

We only have some quick bowlers with raw pace but no skill set to get wickets regularly.

May be after 2 years, 1-2 may become decent international level but then injury may play spoilsport..

I would say Thakur has this insane ability to pick up wickets from nowhere  and he does bowl 140 clicks in rhythm not sure why he doesn’t get rated.
