We must go for a 4 PACER template for most tests in SENA unless a clear turner is expected.

We are seeing much more intensity from our pacers in the last 2 tests ( played with 4 quicks )  compared to the WTC Final ( played with 3 quicks ).

 

And playing 4 quicks would mean keeping individual pacers fresh in a long series. This is needed if we want actual test series wins in SENA regularly.

Put Jadeja at 5 Ashwin at 7 and 4 pacers. In this way we will never let the opposition score 300 and it won't affect the batting too much as fourth pacer would be Shardul.

This would mean dropping either Pujara or Rahane.

Indian fast bowlers win another test match for us away from home. 

 

4 fast bowlers, bowling in tandem, have allowed someone like a Bumrah to bowl at full pace and with fire despite playing his 5th test in a short time. Bumrah's hostile spell made a big difference.

 

I wanted Ashwin in place of Jadeja, in this test though. Want the same in the next test too.

 

Shardul looks like a No.7 batsman and Ashwin can easily replace Jaddu.

yes the no. 7 position originally belonged to Hardik which allowed us to play Ashwin+ other 3 pacers

 

lack of hardik's bowling meant we had to leave Ash and play 4 pacers.

 

But Thakur can take that and nail no. 7 spot and allow us to play Ash. Better balance

Yes... Shardul at 7, Ashwin at 8 ... and 3 more proper fast bowlers. This should be our combination now in tests outside Asia.

 

This gives us 4 pacers + Ashwin.

Yes. Jaddu disappointed us. I expected more from his bat. Not his entire fault. Indian tail is so weak he is not going to make any runs with tail.  Pushing him up the order didn't help either.

 

 

Batting average of 22 in 7 innings and bowling average 45 in 7 innings. Hardly any impact in any of the innings.

I thought he was okay today as 5th bowler. 2 wickets,economy.

 

But should be dropped for batting failures.

His selection was more to do with covering the woeful 3/4/5.  He is in decent form. But he is no Ben stokes.  If his bowling was not much of use and batting is barely adequate they might as well go in with Vihari a proper batsman who can bowl off spin.  It is funny horses for the courses policy is applicable only for bowlers. Not batsmen.  Rahane averages 36 in India which is woeful by any stretch of the imagination. He still gets to play home tests.

Yup he has disappointed

He plays as batting all rounder overseas and thats not good.

Vihari should play for Rahane but previously Jaddu the batsmen had done better than Vihari

U cannot send so many spinners on tour then - ash, jaddu, axar, sundar.............last time it was ash , jaddu n kuldeep

This time more players were sent just because of Covid. Otherwise you don't get such big squad.  Also you always try to play your best pacers. No team rotates needlessly in such a big series. Only when someone is injured. Bowlers also want to play as many games.
