India's packed home season schedule out, to play 4 Tests, 3 ODIs and 14 T20Is

The Indian cricket team will play 14 T20 Internationals and just four Tests at home between November 2021 and June 2022 as the BCCI announced its international itinerary, which features just three ODIs.

The teams that will visit India during the eight-month period are New Zealand (in November-December), West Indies (in February, 2022), Sri Lanka (February-March 2022) and South Africa (in June, 2022).

In between in December-January, India will be touring South Africa and the IPL will happen between April-May. Against New Zealand, India will be playing two Tests and three T20Is while West Indies are due to play three ODIs and five T20Is.

Sri Lanka will play two Tests and three T20Is while South Africa will come for the shortest tour where they will play five T20Is in a space of 10 days.

"We have kept 14 T20Is because we have another T20 World Cup in Australia in a year's time and we need to have adequate matches before the big event," a BCCI official said.

The four Test matches will be held at Kanpur and Mumbai for the New Zealand series while Bengaluru and Mohali will host Sri Lanka in the traditional format. As per the rotation system, most of the cities will be getting the 17 white-ball games that have been scheduled.

Jaipur, Ranchi, Lucknow, Vizag, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Cuttack, Trivandrum, Chennai, Rajkot, Delhi have all got matches.

Kanpur and Mumbai to hold NZ Tests.

Bangalore and Mohali to host SL tests.

As per FTP SL was supposed to play 3 tests, now reduced to 2.

Would have been nice to have 3 tests against SL, after winning the series 2-0 we could have tried out our bench strength: Prasidh, Tyagi, Bharat, Easwaran, SKY etc.

T20Is in June in some of the hottest places - Chennai, Nagpur, Rajkot, Delhi - all will have temperatures hovering 44-45 degrees! That too after non stop cricket. Totally pointless series

Right after IPL. Will be night matches I guess.

Too many T20Is because there's another T20 WC next year.

Think India will dominate NZ test team at home as usual. I have never seen NZ winning a Test in India and am watching Cricket since 96. Don't know when was the last time they won a Test against India in India.

Then we have Sri Lanka who have never won a Test against India in India.

1988, Hadlee was magnificent in that series.

They won in Bombay, but we took the series 2-1.

Peak BCCI scheduling. Be grateful they didn't schedule one of the NZ tests in Gangtok or Anantnag,

they drew a series in 2003/4 don’t remember and in one match we were bowled out and had to follow on

Why do we play 2-Test series? A Test series should at minimum comprise of 3 Tests. Just scrap the WI tour and accommodate 3 Tests against both NZ and SL.

India tour SA so I presume there was a timing issue.

Still poor by the BCCI should have organised a 3 test series with NZ and ensured a shorter tour of SA, maybe just the Test series and T20s.
