Atleast an accomplished Test player like him would do much better. These are not like square turners that you see in Test matches. If you want to survive you can with proper batting approach. Smith was good until he holed out. Root will also complement Moeen Ali very well with ball.
ShoonyaSifar Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 Get some of the best hitters in the game - Lewis, Pooran, Pollard, Russell, Buttler, Roy, Bairstow, Livingstone - and produce a garbage pitch. Well done ICC and BCCI. The pitches at ICC academy and practice grounds were much better, use them as instead of these tacky tracks which will keep producing borefests.
zen Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 The silver lining (if it can be called) for WI is that with such a negative NRR, they can't afford to lose any games ... If they go on to win the tournament, it could be among the best comeback performances by a winning team On the other hand, Eng could have a foot in the door with this NRR against a major team, so would not need to mess up in remaining games

ShoonyaSifar Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 Top surface exploding on the first day of a WC! Making BCB proud and feel at home.

zen Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 Superb performance by Eng ... Probably their first win over WI in WCs ... I won't be surprised if Pak registers its first win in WC over Ind tomorrow. These are not ideal conditions for T20s.

WI are always one hit away from complete meltdown, they were super lucky back then with our bad luck & some really sh!t performances in the filed & bowling! Two no ball wickets of player of match Simmons. So its not bad luck. No balls are mistakes. Even with dew if simmons was out for 19 we would have won. Even with dew they needed 12 runs an over in last 3 overs.

India does the worst against these teams in world event even though we are good enough to beat either of the sides. At some point trend will reverse.

rollingstoned Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 this is going to be a dark horse tournament if the pitches behave like this. even ordinary teams will have a chance if batting firepower is neutralized to this extent. it might suit those who bat like Kohli more.
