We have three keepers in the current squad Pant, Kishan and Rahul, combine that with Rohit, Rahul, Kohli and Pant (our Top 5) none of whom can contribute anything decent with the ball. This is one of the more unbalanced squads we have chosen for any of the recent WC with Hardik not fit to bowl. Such a shame that both Rohit & Kohli who can bowl didn't try to improve their skill considering how crucial this skill in limited overs game.
vvvslaxman Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 Now we are in 2022. Still the same old one-dimensional team. Nothing learnt from 2021 fiasco. Every team has tailenders that can score quickly runs in addition to bowling well. Why is our team management treating one-dimensional cricketers like they are indispensable
BacktoCricaddict Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 (edited) It's the only dimension we need for 2 more matches. With KLR and VK also in decent touch, it ain't all doom and gloom. Just win, baby. Ashte. Edited November 9, 2022 by BacktoCricaddict
Nikhil_cric Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 There's just not enough players with ability. How many Indian batsmen even in IPL/domestic play reverse sweeps and switch hits to away spin? Just compare that to what English batsmen can do? You need proactive, inventive batsmen to get ahead of the game in this format Likes of Kohli have made it clear that they won't play such shot because it affects their Test game . That conservative attitude cannot continue
maniac Posted November 10, 2022 Author Posted November 10, 2022 Didn’t deserve to win this. Pak winning this will be bitter but no way Indian team should win this with this team. We have a 15 man squad where 5-6 players are practically unplayable (for their own side)
GautiMaan Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Why are we playing classical cricket in t20, we won only one t20 world cup and that was when the maharathis of that generation were rested, but t20 has grown so big that this generation's maharathis wont just go away. In today's t20 a player has to be 2 dimensional or an out and out match winner in his department. We have Rohit,Bhuvi,Axar,Ashwin and even Kohli who dont fit this criteria Shaw Sundar(groom this guy to be a low value wicket in the PP,chips in with the ball) Samson Pant SKY Rahul(Look at his stats in LOI's in the middle order) Pandya Bishnoi Deepak Chahar Umran Bumrah Batting till 10 and the bowlers are still gonna be smacked but atleast they will pick a wicket or two
vvvslaxman Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 KL Rahul cannot be part of our side as opener. Period. Freeloader. Just bullies in bilaterals, warm up games and minnows nitinbwj 1

And Pandya. Arsdheep has done well. Not getting attention because he is a trundler but he exceeded expectations. Good future prospect. Only positive for us.
Vickydev Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I have got to say this, our players just don't improve. They are all in their comfort zones doing the same thing. Contrast to other teams it's so strange. Rahul, Rohit are both consolidators for their IPL teams and are doing the same thing here for India, not trying to adapt to each other. None of the top 5 bowl, our spinner ARs like Axar, R. Chahar don't bat well enough so we can bring in fast bowlers just for their bowling, while still keeping depth. Likes of Shaw, Iyer and Samson are the same players of 3-4 years back, not doing enough to kick out the seniors. Kuldeep has regressed. Saini, Avesh, Chahar haven't done enough to kick out Shami and Bhuvi from the T20 set up, Chahar is forever injured. Siraj should have been there though
Sooda Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 There's options that would have features if not for injury: Sundar, D Chahar, Jadeja More than the one dimensionalism it's the conservative mindset that has hamstrung us.
GautiMaan Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 We need to decide on our approach either batting heavy(England) or bowling heavy(Pak), English are able to go gung ho at the top because they have batting till 10 their lower order will bail them out and put in a par score if the worst comes to pass. Pakistan after the addition of Mohammad Wasim now have 6 bowling options(4 140k+ bowlers ,a leg spinner and left arm spinner, plus Ifti Uncle) Then we have India with neither department its strong suit and relying on some individual brilliance here and there to scrape a few wins
