Former captain Sunil Gavaskar said the failure of Indian batsmen to score runs against strong teams was the main reason for the team’s early departure from the T20 World Cup.

No sh1t! Einstein!

I am surprised he did not say that there were ere not enough players from Mumbai.

The reasons are simple, in the power play overs, India struggle to clear the inner circle and even if they do, they happen to find the only two fielders outside that circle.

Tuk tuk in the power play is what its killing team India.

So , the openers have to clear infield in the PP overs, if they fail to do, the rest do diddly squat and blame them. That’s the reason the openers play safe. If they have confidence in a MO like NZ or Pak, they wouldn’t play like hares. They kind of recovered against Pak, but against NZ everyone failed. Both Ishan and KL found the lone fielders in the deep  in the PP. But, the rest could have steadied the ship. But played dots and meekly. That is what is missing in our team. No team play

Its  not just team play or clearing the infield in the PP.

There is a myriad of reasons as to why India has failed in this world cup.

Im just highlighting one aspect of batting, there are many.

We need a team that is fearless and wont fear of being dropped. Its one of the reasons for tuk tuk batting.

Do you know how many balls the middle order played in last 2 years? Pant only played 7 t20 internarional in 2 years  before this world cup. In that he barely got to bat in 4,5 matches. Out of those at least 2,3 came when few overs were left

How many matches Iyer played? Pandya played? Ishan played? In those matches how many balls did they face and what position did they come in?

Their IPL position and roles are different than their international ones. Yet they don't get match practice in their international roles

You cannot have top 3 play every bilateral, stats pad, play over 80% of overs, not give any match practice to middle order for 2-3 years and then expect middle order to miraculously perform in big game

Look at how england rest and rotates each player so they get rest and match practice both. Meanwhile our seniors play every meaningless bilaterals, play slow in them to hog maximum overs
