Kohli dont even deserve a place in the team as a batsman, let alone captain

You point is ridiculous, Pant even after playing 100 test will stay same batsman. Pant is the best test batting wicket keeper ever to emerge from India and it is not even close.

How does all this make him a candidate for a good captain? We have seen what a disaster Kohli has turned out to be as a captain inspite of being the best batsman for a good part of last decade. There is no indication at this point that Pant will be a good captain and yes while some of the leadership qualities can be learnt on the job , Pant is yet to showcase anything that makes him a distinct candidate for captaincy more so when he has only secured his Test position with much more to be proven in LOIs.

How is Kohli disaster for a captain? Are you really serious. He is the greatest Test captain from Asia. Kohli made this team.Dhoni quit this test team in the middle of an overseas tour and Indian at no7.He made this test team into a team which competes in all conditions. How did you come to conclusion that Kohli is bad captain?

 

That is why Pant should have been made VC so he could become part of leadership group.Don't bring Lois into picture we are just talking about test team.

Kohli is as good as the best Asian Test captain as Babar Azam is the best T20 player. The stats only tell half the story. The relative strength of Indian cricket team and lack of quality opposition as opposed to pre 2010s  should have resulted in far greater accomplishments.

It is always about relative strengths of other teams. 1980s WI dominated world cricket because other teams were lot weaker than them. 2000s Aussie s did the same against weaker teams.

The greater accomplishments are due to the importance given by captain to fast bowling. And willing to lose by playing 5 bowlers every where.

There have been always 3-4/5 good sides in every era, this is no different

Aus,Ind,Nz are top sides,Eng were better a year or two ago

Pakistan are slowly getting better in every format,atleast now

Kohli gets full credit for that 5 bowler strategy and I applaud him for that.

 

Rest everything has been whymsical selections, protecting mediocrity through mediocrity and favouritism to his buddies. Had it not been the case, Siraj would have played lot earlier , Ishant should have been shown the door , Mayank should have got more years specially when he was in his peak, atleast one of Rahane or Pujara would have given way to Gill/Vihari in middle order, Pant should have got a consistent run in LOIs much earlier , Dhawan should have retired by now and many more. The only player who can't blame Kohli is Kuldeep Yadav, outrageous talent but unfortunately does not have the mindset to be even a Ranji level player.

still feel kully deserves a go only in tests. hopefully we can fit him in. he can bat decently. Not a scrub. He can hang on.

yes, he (kuldeep) seems to lack the temperament. lots of skill though.

Every captain has his way of making a squad, people need to get over selection nonsense and stop acting as if they know more than the coach or captain.For some it is always players who are not selected.They suddenly become Bradmans and Holdings.

 

 Every captain makes mistakes, it is not end of the world. I can go on and on about every aspect of your comment about his so called  selection mistakes.

 

I criticised him also for backing Pandya at the detriment of the team success but he gave Pandya a consistent run in test.Backing players is never a wrong thing for any captain.Pant is not even good ODI player but that is story for another day.

 

Winning overseas takes time , teams need to learn the art of winning.

 

WI had best team in 1980s but never won world cup.Winning world cup/major tournament  need some luck too. Kohli now has become gun shy in major tournaments

Don't know how we keep selecting players who aren't performing and that too for years in Kohli's case.

 

Should have blooded some of our young guns, we have the bench strength.

 

We have conquered Australia, England, and now hopefully SA.

Every series, Kohli has excused himself, (before start or mid series) in whatever format and in whatever countr, Standing captain has delivered be it test series in Australia or India
