Dada's Army Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Anyone impressed with Siraj's ability to move the ball both ways off the pitch? . He seems to be using a partially scrambled seam to bowl off-cutters and leg-cutters. But what really surprised me is that when bowlers normally bowl cutters, they lose pace and carry once the ball bounces. Siraj's cutters however go through with speed, bounce, and carry, almost like standard seam deliveries. His stock ball is basically jagging left and right off the pitch at 130+ kph. Pretty impressive and quite unique from what I've seen among global bowlers. Most bowlers either try to swing the ball or try to bowl orthodox seam. Does anyone has any insight on what exactly he's doing, and what he's figured out? Vijy, ravishingravi and tweaker 3
ravishingravi Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 He showed this in Australia. Art of cross seam and leg cut was lost. He is some talent, this boy. Dada's Army 1
rkt.india Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 The biggest reason he is successful in doing this at pace is because of his very quick arm action. Vijy 1
express bowling Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 (edited) Siraj needs to bowl more seam-up balls and less cross-seamed ones. He was bowling even better when he did this during 2017 to 2019. And got more bounce too. Edited December 30, 2021 by express bowling Mosher, Vijy and sandeep 3
vvvslaxman Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 But he has to fix his celebration technique :) An injury waiting to happen. I remember Pandya doing having this nerve popping celebration. Always looked like he was going to pick up an injury any time. Siraj has to be careful while doing a twist during his celebration.
jalebi_bhai Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Love the delivery he balls that cuts across the left-hander.
Frustrated Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Happy to see him succeed in a format which is really his cup of tea. TM should ensure that he focusses on tests and stays injury free. He is a real asset for us in the longer format, by taking pitch out of equation. Vijy 1
neel roy Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 His two wickets of Moeen and Curran back to back in the lords test was a thing of beauty. Both the batsmen knew what he was trying to do bowling from an angle and making the ball leave the left handed batsmen at last min. But both fell for it and nicked it. Moeen after facing him for two overs and curran watching this unfolding infront of his eyes in the dressing room ..then came the ever so subtle change which fooled the till unflappable jos buttler and he was nicked off handing the test to india not before he got Anderson clean bowled.. fabulous bowler.. sandeep, Vijy and Dada's Army 1 2
